I feel New York's expansion is somewhat limited by the Hudson Bay. Unless they can spread eastward into Long Island but I heard those suburban folks there are super NIMBY. Maybe New York could grow deeper into the New York mainland?

Nyc builds up not out. nyc's skyline is a product of density and money.The empire state building was the tallest in the city in 2013, now it is the 7th.There are multiple 1000+Ft buildings under construction in manhattan and 1 in bk.
