I'm not even sure if beans dropped the hottest chit during those state property years. '01-04.
imo, a lot of beans best stuff was pre-SP. i prolly bumped beans more when he was doing songs with murda mil & major figgas/most wanted. then of course stuff with jay & bleek.

you could argue that he didn't drop the hottest album or underground chit thru that SP era.
he def wasn't the face of most of their hits.

overall, i think beans was the best of the bunch, but in terms of that state property era, i cant crown him as the "king chit".

Oschino did get signed without Beans though. Everyone from Philly were getting deals around then - and O signing a few months later - he didn't even know Beanie at the time. Chris & Neef were supposed already with Roc before Beans or like right around the same time, as well. Freeway was the ONLY person that got in through Beans. Besides, O ALWAYS had a problem with that. He's always been vocal about his position, and Beans position, and he doesn't even want to be King of Philly. Everyone knows that's Gillie and respect that. O said that Beans thinks he's over them, but he's always been in the same position as the rest of them, but treat them like underlings. Philly been heard these stories, so they're out there. O became hella vocal when Beans took shoots at them, talkin "I births you n!ggas, fed and burped you n!ggas, one more time I will earth you n!ggas." Beans tried to play them, talkin YGz were gettin 1200 a show to split. No one said Beans was hatin then.

Peedi is another that has said that he really don't mess with State Property like that. He just didn't like the industry BS. They aren't really a squad. You had 2 groups and 3 solo artists that were put together because label didn't know what to do with them. This isn't Cam & Dips, Nas & Bravehearts, Busta & Flipmode, Biggie & JM - with n!ggas that grew up together; this is a bunch of random n!ggas from different blocks, different hoods that were thown together.

Bottom line is Beans was never looked at as a boss by them, or viewed as one. Whenever they had problems, they didn't go to Beans to speak on their behalf, they went to Dame or Jay. And Beans & O are on the same level in Philly...and O is hella respected as a street n!gga. When he said "he's in the streets for real" or "from the streets more than anyone in SP", that's Philly talk for "still out here hustlin and goin through street shyt"

Whether you wanna hear SP together is really irrelevant. For the most part, they're all still working AND they do tracks together all of the time. O & Beans don't work together at all, but the rest do.

rocafella was already trying to sign up philly artists. there wouldn't have even been a state property if major figgas & phillys most wanted didn't turn down the rocafella offers. they were the groups that were really buzzin at the time. rocafella was too cheap, and those groups had better offers. prolly the same reason sauce money & jaz-o didn't sign. all those state property guys were either unknown or guys that were only known to people that's deep into the philly rap scene. that's how they were able to sign all them for next-to-nothing.

beans was making a name, but he wasn't THAT dude. i mean, he would've eventually become that, but he wasn't big like that yet. and he wouldn't have even met jay if most wanted didn't have him tag-along when they went up to rocafella.
an jay still ran with most wanted & figgas' styles, btw.

well peedi done already cosigned all the major stuff oschino was saying about beans.
