Lmaooo so the Sixers can compete with the Cavs and warriors for a title in the next 3 years because they have Ben Simmons and Embiid? Oh, and some big name rookie they'll draft this year. With no guards and no shooting. You cannot believe this.
they have a template atleast.
if ben simmons is as advertised....they have arguably the best big man right now in the league on minute restrictions.
several other young pieces that can be traded and two more lottery picks in this draft :dead:
they have movable parts and a cornerstone already.
the knicks have only one half certainty going into next year and the years beyond. kristaps...then.....:francis:

If I'm watching today... I want them to win...today. I want to root for them to win today. And if they lose, I hope luck falls in our favor that our losing will be soothed by a pick.

i get this reasoning or thinking....it's just im not all that much hung up on winning 35 games :francis:
i can be at ease watching young players play and develop even if it means us losing a lot.
progress > stagnancy.

Tanking For Who?

I Mean Tanking Makes Sense In Some Circumstances But We're Kind Of Boxed In To A Point Where Tanking Isn't Really An Option
And all I'm saying is...Let the overall actual effort of the team, without intentional sabotage, result in a draft position that is commensurate with their record.

Try to trim the fat of dysfunction, of course. If it's "fukk Melo" I get it.

It's just weird wanting to lose. It's not weird to argue, "aight, this Melo shyt is officially a failure, blow it up and let the pieces fall where they may.

Unless Melo waives his NTC, the Knicks'll land where they land...Just hope that Hornacek keeps putting faith in the youth. If a team with Baker, Kuz, KP and Willy in key rotation spots does enough work to get a playoff slot, then you've got cost controlled youth in place with a center piece developing. Whether you try to package them, hit on a draft pick or hit on a FA to land KP's Robin...it would leave you with avenues to that second piece and that's about all you can ask for when the team probably won't be bad enough to get a pick in a top slots. In all likelihood, those young cats won't give you enough to get into the playoffs and you'll have your lottery pick.

I respect that.

Put it like this, if I was a 76ers fan, Iooking at last year's roster and hoping they win. Knowing they aren't. I'd be hoping that everyone in the building is trying to ensure all of the roster is playing to the best of their ability.

Hoping they win and if not, draft pick. And I'd love seeing the youth play.

I can't say, damn, Ben Simmons is in this draft... PLEASE LOSE.

When did I say the next three years?

And why is it so important that it happens specifically in that time frame?

I Agree W This, But It Is What It Is, Everyone Has Their Own Feelings On It

The Warriors And Thunder Never Intentionally Tanked A Season From What I Remember

But They Also Never Splurged On Half Decent Free Agents To Pair With Curry And Durant

I Remember Golden State Thinking Of Getting Tyson Chandler, Then We Offered Him Huge Cash

That Signing Would Of Probably Crippled Them In The Long Run

Tanking Would Have Probably Changed Their Outcome Also By Trying Too Hard To Dictate A Fate U Can't Control

It Doesn't Have To Be A Choice Of Tank Or Throw Millions At Free Agents

Maybe A Roster Of Guys Like Hernangomez, Kuz And Holiday W KP Is What We Need, Build A Home Grown Core, Find Out Who Fits And Who Doesn't, Meanwhile Still Being Able To Draft Decent Enough To Find KP A Counter Part

I Dunno Man, I Ain't Got The Answers

it wouldnt have. that money went to bogut and andre iguadala...cause their best player...curry was on a 4 year 44 mill deal....which he is exiting this year.
those other teams never intentionally tanked...but they got rid of players that hindered growth....like monta ellis with stephen curry.
those teams you named...decided to forego the whole process of easing their drafted players into the league...and threw them out there...with high usage rates to see what they can do.
the knicks are trying to put a bunch of vets around KP. I dont think its the best idea for his growth and the hope of finding future young talent...but fukk it :manny:
would be nice to see KP in the playoffs....but outside of that...i dont really care.

:obama:Fight me.

It Makes Sense But Its A Hell Of A Shot In The Dark lol

Nah, man. It's what successful teams do. You put yourself in position to acquire talent. You don't have to go out and throw games to do it. But you can't keep slapping band aids on major wounds and be surprised when you bleed to death.

But people on this forum, some in this thread will say that every other team is a treadmill team, and that their seasons are pointless.

There are people who are in this thread, who make fun of Atlanta for being an also-ran, but want to do everything we can to be a notch worse than them for a prolonged period of time. :gucci:

Warriors tanked the 2012 season what are you talking about and got rewarded with harrison barnes

And the dude they trade monta ellis 4yrs in to stephs career after they drafted klay thompson so there was no point for monta to be there since they had a real sg.

If yall are going to talk make sure yall are right let the season play out and we go from there

Tanked How?

And The Writing Was On The Wall For Monta, They Could Have Forced It (Some shyt The Knicks Would Do) But They Had Foresight, Klay Wasn't That Impressive From The Jump, He Grew Tremendously

In 3 years LeBron will be 35 turning 36 :ld:

The teams best positioned to take over the East are the Celtics, Bucks and Sixers. It's funny you say the Sixers have no shooting, yet they currently make more threes per game than the Knicks :dead: The Sixers aren't that far away, if Embiid is healthy they are going to be poised to be a power in the East when the Cavs run ends, same with the Bucks.

The Knicks need to get a player to pair with Kristaps now, not when Melo's contract is up.
