idk. Phil has been pretty good at moving contracts and not getting raped so we'll have to see.
I think it's going to be very hard to move this noah deal with 3 years left on it of (what appears to be) sub-optimal play.
And as far as phil's deals go -- His chandler deal was horrific, especially considering what Mozgov got traded for later that season. Other than that, I agree with the fact that Phil has swung some decent trades.
Brehs this might sound naive and all (I never played organized basketball)
but how can we be so bad on defensive rebounding and so good on offensive rebounding?
Effort/Boxing out?
Happy to help!
It's a couple of factors:
- Offensive rebounding is mainly crashing the glass, putting yourself around the rim, in a place where you can get to the ball if it comes off.KOQ does it Wily does it, Jo reallyu does it, KP, and even melo and rose at times -- also, somebody like KP has height/length, which is helpful when just trying to tip a ball back out to teammates. Offensive rebounding is a lot of effort, and willingness to get down there and bang. And when you have guys like Melo, KOQ, KP, jo - who are relentless - you're in position to do it.
- Defensive rebounding is two factors:
- Concentration and positioning - knowing where your man is when the shot goes up, putting a body on him, then turning and facing up, to chase the ball.
- And really, Defense - The more shots the other team makes, the higher % they shoot, the fewer defensive rebounds EXIST to grab. You have to create misses, in order to rebound them.
So that's kind of where the problems are. The knicks don't really have the focus/positioning on defense to find a man, box him out, and then chase the boards AND they don't make the other team miss any fukking shots.
Ndour. Plumlee. One of these cats gotta go for Randle. Doesn't matter which. Neither brings anything that's hard to replace.
I'd love to sit with Phil in private, off the record, so he can tell me what his reasoning was in signing Noah to that deal. Doesn't he kinda have beef with Reinsdorf from his Bulls days? Was this really an attempt to show him up or something? Was it about proving him wrong that Noah "is still a frontline guy"? Cuz how did I, an average fan, realize Noah was NOT a frontline guy anymore....but you didn't? And your access to players and inside info dwarfs mine in comparison. I think some fukkery has gone on here.
KOQ is basically doing what Noah was paid to come in and do...pretty much the way Noah was supposed to do it. Soooooo....lets stop pretending Jo is gonna get it together and go ahead and start Kyle and bring Noah off the bench. If he was a skill player it makes sense to give him a lot of rope to get a rhythm after not playing much over the past couple seasons. But he's an effort player. If it's not here, it's not coming. Let's change it up...
Rose needs to be on a minute restriction if he's gonna play tonight. I have some lingering back shyt going on right now too that started around the same time as his. It's loosening up and I'm moving around now with much less pain. But if I was in a rec league with a game tonight, I couldn't go. So IMO if he needs treatment to play, he should continue to sit out. If he's pain free and doesn't need extra treatment, give it a go. With a minute restriction.
I agree with just about all of this. The only thing is -- Joakim Noah, for all of his faults, is still good enough to get significant minutes on this team, because the roster isn't that deep. So you have to figure out where he's most useful. Is he more useful with the first team, where it's okay that his offense is useless BUT he clogs up the middle sometimes -- or is he better off on the second team, where maybe his passing can help create, and his defense/effort will help -- but that unit needs help scoring.
I see the rockets signing nene for one year, and even though he's hurt and washed I'm like
