Some stuff to be excited about:

Don’t let defensive issues obscure Kristaps Porzingis’s scoring explosion

Key part of the article:
For all the talk of defensive struggles — he’s still holding opponents to a field goal percentage that is 13.2% lower than league average within six feet of the rim, though his perimeter D has been quite rough — it’s time to step back and take a look at what Kristaps has done these first six games on offense: 18.8 points per game on 49.3 FG% and 43.3 3P%. Take out the one Rockets contest, when the entire team essentially forgot he was there (4 FGA) and Kristaps has scored an average of 22 points per game. He’s draining threes at a clip we never saw last year, and he’s improved at exploiting mismatches inside. Oh, and he’s averaging less than a turnover (0.9).

So he's still a ridiculous rim protector and now he' ridiculously efficient too. Going through some stats he's averaging 22, 7 and 2 per 36 a game, and that's including the fact that his Usage% is actually DOWN from last year. Even though the efficiency will most likely drop a bit, for a second year player those type of numbers are fukking ridiculous. He's struggling with guarding players on the perimeter, but that seems to be as much an issue with team defense than it is him, and it's only been six games, so I won't hold that against him too much for now. Right now, on paper, Porzingis seems like he's the Knicks best player this year.

Dead all the trade talk too, he's a second year player who's shown that the sky is the limit for him, why not let a young player ride it out with the Knicks for once?

Triangle far and away 2016 Knicks scapegoat leader
You don't see any credence in all day scrimmaging against triangle on defense negatively preparing this team to know and trust where their teammates will be in games against 29 teams who don't use the triangle?

You also don't see any credence in stifling what comes natural for a schematic that no one likes and forces players the be thinking about the mechanics during the game instead of playing more naturally?

I can be a beast trial attorney but if I still worked for a supervisor who wanted to micromanage my style by forcing me to perform the way he wants, I'll come off robotic and clumsy. I do believe the challenge of the triangle being coached by Hornacek (who isn't a triangle coach) and implemented by players who it doesn't come natural too is a significant thing.

You disagree with any of that?

Bickering about offensive sets when the roster isn't good seems like a distraction to me.

I just think whatever is going on in practice needs to be highlighted.

The team is flawed but it's no excuse for them not being able to play to their best. No one should be looking lost out there, on defense or offense, unless them being lost is a known flaw in their game.

If Bargnani was out there... practice wouldn't be an issue, it would be our knowledge about Bargnani.

However, w/ Rose- who was once part of an efficient team defense, Noah - who is a defensive and high iq defender, KP- who has surprisingly natural rim protection ability, and Lee - who was brought in specifically for defense... we should not look lost.
