Saw it mentioned on Realgm; So let's say the Bulls knock out the C's...prolly enough for Butler to end up sticking in CHI instead of being dealt right? Then if the C's can't get Hayward, who is on a team with upside and can pay him more...the C's would be left with a need for a real scorer to put with IT right? Does Melo become a real trade option? I wonder if they'd actually offer something valuable.

No question, in my opinion, the celtics losing is what's best for the knicks.

That being said, Danny is really good at his job.

Ainge wouldn't give up assets for Butler Cousins or George why would he give it up for Melo?

Ainge is clearly someone who overvalued his assets I don't see him going after Melo

If anything this shows how far the Celtics are away from contending and in no way is Melo a player that is gonna make them contenders

Yeah. I mean, really, moving melo helps the rebuilding process on a few fronts: Helps next year's pick, acquires various levels of assets, eliminates distractions from the rebuilding process.

Really, I just want to limit Phil's potential spaces for error.
And that's why he should of approached him differently lol it's like you think you gonna Shame melo out of NYC ??? The best bet to me is build up his value and be like melo is such a great teammate leader etc and deserves to win !! If NYC can't do it he deserves a winner etc . I'm a melo Stan I'll admit it but the way Phil handled it is like :usure: lower Melos trade value or make teams wary of him ?? And make him not want to waive his NTC ???

Because the C's were the number one team in the Eastern Conference and hyped as potentially beating the Cavs when he was pushing for Butler, Cousins and George. He had Hayward as an option too at that point. Half a season later, Hayward prolly stays home. Butler and George are both looking like keepers again and Cousins got dealt already. He went from having 4 options ahead of Melo to no options at SF.

The C's aren't far from contenders. They'll have a top 4 pick in this stacked draft and their obvious flaw is lack of a second scorer to take pressure off of IT. Realistically, they probably draft Jackson or Tatum but if they were to get that first pick; it's gonna be hard for ANYBODY to pass on Fultz. If they end up with Fultz, I could see them exploring Melo again since it's been implied to trade deadlines in a row that they made inquiries (granted that came from unnamed sources).
