Beloved my point has always been easy to understand, when Melo was traded I thought it was a terrible deal for the Knicks, and I turned out to be right as the Nuggets have a better record than the Knicks since the trade and find themselves in a better position for the future. I did not like his game, when you have a player that can only do 1 thing at a high level it makes building around that player extremely difficult, nevermind how much the ball sticks when he has it. His stance on social issues is great, but we're not talking about that, we're talking about him as a basketball player.
People are mad that they won the game because it's a pointless win, it took the Knicks from the 6th spot in the draft to the 9th, that may not seem like a big difference but someone who we think should go top 5 may be there at 6. It could be the difference in drafting Jonathan Issac or Robert Williams, it's how the Blazers got Damian Lillard at 6 and the Raptors were stuck with Terrence Ross at 8. As much as yall love Randle, he's not going to be some high level PG, the odds are very much against him so having him help win a meaningless game and hurt your draft position is just
When people say tank, it means to stop winning these games right now, the season is over and you're not going to do anything but hurt your own long term potential. This is a deep draft, but the best players at positions the Knicks could really use will most likely be gone in the top 7, after that it's a crapshoot, and while nothing is a sure thing, getting into that top 6 is more important than Chasson Randle developing.
This is also the dog days of the year when teams stop trying hard for a stretch and marginal young players play well
I remember when Mardy Collins played well for a few week stretch at the end of the year and some fans on here thought he was the future
