Honestly the move is simple Breh's

1) Tank
2) pray for a ping pong ball miracle
3) come to terms that doesn't happen for Knicks
4) draft a PG
5) try to trade some contracts for picks in 2018..... early
6) pay a RFA
7) Phil tells Melo he ain't shyt for staying (often)
8) Tank again and repeat

Realistically -- this is pretty close to what they need to do.

I'd mirror what you're seeing from Brooklyn, almost. Understanding that you're in a better position.

This season: Keep losing.
Free Agency: Focus on young, underrated talent (they already did some of that with KOQ, Kuzminskas, even Jennings to an extent, and Holiday counts, as a throw in from the deal)
Draft: Pick the best player available. Shoot your shot with later picks, taking shots on potential -- and maybe even buying a late 1st, 2nd.

See if there is a possible upper-tier team that wants Lee -- he has no use on this roster, but could be valuable in a trade.

Rinse, repeat. This is how you build a team.

For the record... the tank game is whack.

If you're gonna tank you gotta do it right and shut you're main players down with (fake) injuries.

You can't put a fully healthy team out there of your best players and tell them to lose. That builds a losing culture. Which is death.

So i'm not saying DON'T tank. But if they do, they gotta shut everybody down and have a starting lineup of:

Jennings
Holiday
Kuz
KP (the only starter who should still get minutes)
Willy

I've talked about Ntilikina a bunch on here. Big point guard, who projects out as a smooth PnR guy, with really good defensive potential. He changes gears and speeds well, but does not necessarily have elite quickness or explosion, but he's a great athlete.

And actually, his shooting is much better than his rep. A lot of people just give him the same scouting report they gave Schroeder -- but Frank can shoot. And has confidence. It's not the quickest release, but it's not slow. And his form is good. Tjarks did a decent writeup of him here. The biggest problem I see is that he doesn't beat guys one on one off the dribble. He doesn't have that suddeness from a dead-stop to blow by another guard.

I don't know that he's a star, but he could be a very good point guard. I think if you're hoping for a Fultz/Ball/Smith kind of player -- well that is disappointing. But when you compare him to say, Fox -- Fox can't fukking shoot at all, AND is going to have physical shortcomings. To me, that's much scarier than a guy like Ntilikina.

That said, If we're in the 8 slot... is frank my first choice? I don't know. I'd have to know how the board fell. But drafting him certainly would not be a disaster. He'll provide a team with a TON of lineup possibilities, due to his size and experience playing off the ball.
How's his defense on guards ?

The problem is that lowers the chance of trading melo even more . If you do that draft someone and he sucks too Phil is finishef as well

First off, FUKK DOLAN for that trump shyt but I wanna talk Phil.

Why are ya'll knocking Phil for? Yeah he is dumb as shyt and fukked over Melo but maybe the non trades are for the better.

I'm sure if Phil got good deals for Melo from clippers, cavs or boston he would of pulled the trigger. I don't want no damn shumpert, Crawford or olynik for Melo and I'm sure that's what they been offering us.

Rose is an expiring contract, Yes I was in for the Rubio trade but something must of fell through for that trade not to happen. Now we can waive this bum or let him walk at the end of the season. No loss or if we strike out with drafting a big time PG we can always trade for a PG like Rubio at the end of the season.

I didn't see any proposed deals for Quinn or Kuz, I'm sure they were crap also, so he said no.

Can't win with us Knicks fan, if phil makes trades for bullshyt we'll be unhappy, if he makes no trade we'll be unhappy.

Our future might not be bright but it damn sure ain't dim, draft picks going forward, cap space (I'm aware of the CBA). If we play this right, this draft we pick up a big time PG and then following year is the year for big men, we can draft a big then. I'm willing to go through another 2-3 year playoff drought if it means we'll have a great young core who can compete after 3years for the next 6-8yrs. \

If phil fukks up this offseason, I want his head. No one said this was going to be an overnight fix, other than his Noah deal, he's been allright in my books.
My main problem with Phil right now is he seems to lack a direction he wants to take the franchise in, he's half assing.

How's his defense on guards ?

Hard to tell, because he's SO young.

But he's shown a great understanding of where to be, and even how to rotate. He's got great length and instincts, he finds his way into passing lanes often. Also knows how to use his hands to deflect, steal, and not get called for reaching. He might be the best defensive pg in the draft.

That being said, is he "lockdown" -- i dunno. PG is pretty much impossible to lockdown, but he projects out as a good defender against the point, and non-PG/Bron sized wings.

Shout outs to Phil. He's alright.

I hope y'all fight valiantly for the 8th spot :salute:
