Have we not learned the lessons these mid-western types have taught us? That it doesn't matter where you live in NYC as long as you're willing pay up and have some creativity to better your neighborhood. They turned most of shytty Brooklyn into vibrant neighborhoods.

Now they're about to revitalize and turn rundown boogie down Bronx into the most happening place to be in a decade or so:wow: Meanwhile you want to pay extra for name recognition.

Ehh

I guess that's true..
It's really the real estate developers who have the power and final say.
They've got the clout.

I have no interest living in williamsburg not due to it's location but the people who live there now.
The dumpy girl thing is real turn off as well...
I mean you aren't in college anymore, and you dress like a hobo?
It's very off putting, and shows a lack of aspirations.

I have no interest in living in the bronx because it's far as hell from work and at the end of the day the bronx will always be the bronx for good or bad.

You rather the stuffy yuppie on the Upper East side? The liberal elitist on the upper west side that give a look of disgust when you light a cigarette? You're going to find people you don't like in any neighborhood. What the mid-western types have taught us is that they don't matter. They moved into neighborhoods with, lets just say, less than desirable neighbors and made it their own - opened up coffee shops and the like. Real Estate developers are followers imo. Developers just ate off the doppelgangers who arrived late to the scene but where willing to now pay exorbitant costs to be part of it.

newyawkers, was steinway st black or was that a victim of gentrification also? only been to nyc twice but i remember that strip and getting heckled by some armenian/jewish/idk n idgaf teens because of my southern accent. reminded me of coming to america :ohlawd:

Naw... As far as I remember, Steinway was always a sort of melting pot... Bunch of Greek restaurants and stuff. I never hung out there tough like that, but I never saw it as a black neighborhood. Always mainly Greek. Unless Steinway runs all the way up to Queensbridge Houses :manny:

My pops is from Africa and he hasn't gone to a lot of places + done a lot of things since he came here, and now he regrets it

I dont see where the disgrace is. Most black people in the NE are not living lives worth aspiring to, lets just keep it funky. I cant be 50 and not own property, or be spending 10-15 hours a week just trying to get to work, thats crazy.

exactly. Living paycheck to paycheck is not the business. Especially when you work for 30 years have have NO type of assets to show. When I see educated people move down south, have things to their names, and have shyt that they can pass down to, I can only wonder if I can develop a game plan to do the same.

The south ain't all c00nery and ignorance. Until NYC can make it affordable for average people to live in and prosper, the city will lose its luster.

Yep... take it from a small time developer. ... we follow the demand not vice versa

Developers rely on loans and banks dont lend without evidence of demand

Developers will try to create demand in some cases and sometimes it works (piazza in philly) but most times it doesnt (revel in ac)

Than live around these faux bohemians from from god only knows where? Yes. You couldn't pay me to live in Williamsburg or wherever they mass. The buildings are architecturally/structurally trash, overpriced, lack of green space, and the neighborhood is really run down. Of course there are going to be people I don't like wherever I am, I'm not nieve. The best bang for the buck I've seen have been in neighborhoods I haven't consider before. There was a big demand to get out of Manhattan post 9/11, I'm not sure if the Williamsburg boom was part of that, but it was probably a matter of time.

Dawg we know you got $$$$, Im just saying its weird that you are complaining about Williamsburg people living in the Ps

Why not just buy a condo on Franklin, you can get a condo + spot for like $500K, and still be close to your people

I'm looking around, just started last week. Went to a bunch of open houses on Sunday. Went to a few in Prospect Heights, Brooklyn Heights, one in Crown Heights, and one in the UWS. There isn't a lot on the market right now and people are going into a buying frenzy. May have found a good broker though so that's straight. Thought about a brown stone but if I want to move away I need something easier to manage and I already have too many places(in the process of consolidating right now). Looking at condo's mostly right now in brownstones and townhouses. The best bang for the buck so far has been in the uws by far.

Going to check these out this week.

I've also been finding a lot of the places in Brooklyn are too small for the price.
My apartment now is 1300 sqft and I've got a deck and yard. It's a really big decision, I know I can't rent anymore.
