How much time have you spent down South/traveling in general?

]And how don't you guys see that 88m3 is trolling????

I've spent a decent ammount of time in the south actually.
Ive traveled extensively and lived in a variety of environments around the world.

Just because I'm passionate about where I'm from doesn't mean I'm trolling

Sounds like wild self and you should go halfs on a uhaul. You're not about that life. You're not about that paper. Your loss. I'll tell you one thing if you move away you'll never be able to move back. Have fun living in the Carolinas or Florida or the Main Line or wherever relationships and people go to die.

O pls. I get calls + emails damn near daily for higher paying jobs here. Last year I got married, went on a Euro honeymoon and crashed + rebuilt a motorcycle, had a $2000/mo apt and was still deep in the black by the end of the year. $$$$ is not an issue. Its the drain of the logistics of city living that are wack. I know people with multimillion dollar apts, no yard. You want a house, you have to waste 2-3 hours of your life commuting if you work in the city. City is dirty + expensive. Food is not that great in Midtown/Financial District but they charge like it is. Even w/a house if you live in the boroughs you are right on top of your neighbors. Its just not a pleasant way to live, but NYers like you tie so much of your self worth/image into NYC that you get wild defensive + angry when people call it like it is.

NYC is good for like 3-4 years but then you bounce. Lol @ a 3 million dollar place w/no yard or view  Lol @ $2, 3, 4K/mo apts in walk up buildings :wtf: Lol @ the MTA. City living sucks.

Honestly, I was obsessed with it then I went, it was cool but to actually move there to live in a shoebox. :whoa:

I wouldn't mind the Northwest though :ehh:

I got love for my city but :pachaha::pachaha: at thinking the Black NYC community should have some great deal of disdain for the south. Even when compared to the other northern cities it is well known/documented that Black NYC was never as organized/politically powerful as the Black communities in Chicago,DC,Detroit, etc. Even the Black Latin Americans, West Indians, and West Africans are leaving NYC to the south even though they don't necessarily have the same "attachment" to the south.

Turn the 2000 a month rent into an asset buy an apartment or a condo. Spend some time on corcoran or the nyt website you'd be surprised what you can find. Find someone you trust to start hunting down places for you. If you want a beach or the mountains take a vacation even if its a day or two! Buy vacation property that can earn income when you aren't there. You hate the MTA buy a three series and get a monthly parking spot! I can't help with the food sometimes I'll wait hours instead of risk it. :lolbron: I enjoy the options NYC affords me and it is a beautiful city. I'm sure you could say that about people that live anywhere  Have you seen the state of some of the cities in this country currently? They are haggard and the people oh the people...

I don't mind small living spaces...at all but fukk all those people that are every damn where.

I'd like to live outside of this country though...eventually. Even if only for a few years.

You see the light :blessed: . Soon, the only blacks we have up there is the black hipsters. People won't believe how many Jamaicans moved to DC in recent years and how many Africans even moved to the ATL metro area.

Even if I wanted to continue living in a tiny ass apartment, maintenance alone on a place in the city is like $600-$1000.

If you want a beach or the mountains take a vacation even if its a day or two! Buy vacation property that can earn income when you aren't there.
A 1 day vacation is fukking pointless dude. Travelling anywhere decent would take at least a day for the back and forth. And while I was there I couldn't relax.

Meanwhile if I was down in a "slave state" I could live on a lake or not far from a beach I could hit up damn near year round by car :aicmon: And that timeshare shyt is for the birds.

You hate the MTA buy a three series and get a monthly parking spot!
And pay a $300-500 car note, $300-500 insurance, and $300-500 for parking for a car I might use 3-5 times a month :wtf: Anyways I have a motorcycle and a bicycle I use when its warm + dry enough, but still, it would be nice to have a car I would pay for once and just need to insure + gas up (for less than $300/mo)... which is doable in a "slave state"

Thats the thing, NYC DOESN'T afford you options. In a "slave state" you can live in an apt, you can live in a townhouse, you can live in a house house, all within 20-30 mins from work. You can drive, you can take the train, maybe you can do a bus. You can live up on a mountain, you can live down by a lake, you can live in a "downtown area". All on an avg salary. NYC, you make avg money, if youre young you either HAVE to live with roommates, you HAVE to live in the hood, or you HAVE to have a 1-2 hr commute to work EACH WAY. Driving to work is not an option on a 5 figure salary if you work in Manhattan. You prob can't afford to travel. Getting out into nature is an adventure and a half and anywhere close by is going to be mobbed when its nice out. NYC offers very specific things for a very select group of people... for everyone else its a struggle. Just the way you have to maneuver and the amount of $$$ you have to spend to do all the things you claim... its ridiculous. Its not supposed to be this way.

You've resigned yourself to this.

I'll be back a bit later to show you how wrong you really are as I did in my previous post

I'm in the adk's right now if wanted I could go skiing, take the audi out drifting, go snowmobiling, go hiking, really whatever I want.

Can anybody answer this: what is the rate of black home-ownership in the South?

Hmmm this is still going on. I agree with looney more than @88m3 on how he feels about NYC. Both have valid arguments, I will chime in when I get home as I left Manhattan years ago and still debate back and forth if I want to move back
