As I stated somewhere else, it should have been canceled...:heh:

That's the only parade where you EXPECT bullets flying

If you got bad knees and/or can't run a mile, you better stay your ass home...

Permanently?

Part of me says yes...

But there should continue to be adjustments made to make sure the parade goers are as safe as possible...

I actually read the article and it's complaints about a parade with a history of violence being overpoliced..🤣

The audacity within itself is astonishing

I agree with you.

"New York’s return to office rate, according to Kastle, is lower than the average tracked across the 10 major metros in the country for the week. Cities like Austin, Houston, Dallas and Chicago all have higher average rates. When averaged across the cities Kastle tracks, national in-person workplace attendance ranged from 33% to 58% for Jan. 12-18, up 2.6% from the week before.

Still, employers don’t expect to reduce their real estate footprint in the city, and many are expecting in-person work to rise. In September, 54% of employers said they expect headcount to increase or stay the same over the next five years. "

"Only 31 — or 7.2% — of the city’s 425 subway stations surveyed saw equal or increased ridership since 2019...
On Wednesday, there were 3,502,207 riders in the five boroughs — a mere 62.3% of what Metropolitan Transportation Authority ridership was before the pandemic, according to MTA data.

Of the 31 stations that the Comptroller’s Office reports seeing significant surges in ridership, some only improved because they were under construction during parts of 2019 and had reduced service.

Leading the way was the Astoria Boulevard stop in Queens on N, Q, and W lines, where ridership last month was up a whopping 274.5% — or nearly triple. However, the increase is largely attributed to the station being closed for much of 2019 for a huge construction project.

Other improved performers include the Gun Hill Road stop in the Bronx on the 5 lines (269.8%) and 168th-St.-Washington Heights on the 1, A, and C lines in Manhattan (202.6%)."

NYC got a clue on all those empty buildings.

Hopefully most of the proposed housing goes to true working class residents.

Mayor Eric Adams announced new housing initiatives in a mostly-vacant Midtown office building, including details about a planned rezoning of Midtown South (map inset).
The city will rezone more than 40 blocks in the Garment District, NoMad and Chelsea and launch an effort to rewrite the city’s zoning code in the coming months in hopes of chipping away at New York City’s desperate housing
shortage, Mayor Eric Adams announced Thursday.

The efforts center largely on converting vacant Manhattan office buildings into housing, which City Hall says could produce as many as 20,000 new homes for 40,000 people over the next decade.
