They're going to gentrify Inwood and kick out all of the Dominicans. Then the Whites from the Midwest are going to move in and open up Dominican themed vegan spots and Bodega themed thrift shops.

Inwood is already being gentrified. Just drive around. Remember there's only so much available land on the island of Manhatten to build tall luxury apartments for the wealthy. These reps are whores, and will sell native New Yorkers down the river. Brad and Becky from Colorado and Ling Ping from China needs some high priced condos to sink their money into.

One of the first thing that happens before full gentrification is building a cultural center. That usually serves a museum for the past residents.

Whats wrong with gentrification? Inwood upper manhattan area is beautiful Construction companies want to build new buildings to attract young professionals I dont see a problem Oh wait, its racist because the demographics there are dominicans? Dominicans who pay less than $500 rent Are on public assistance such as medicaid and food stamps Send a box filled with food purchased from food stamps to D.R. Every other week Dont have tax paying jobs meaning they usually work off the books... illegal narcotics most of the time Form gangs like the trinitarios ...RIP junior And got a land rover parked outside See the problem is other working dominicans with professions and $60k plus jobs cant afford to even pay their rent let alone a land rover And the thing is they want a land rover So when they see these other dominicans taking advantage of the system they complain to guys like ydanis rodriguez Then comes “gentrification” How about they all educate themselves Get high paying income jobs And buy those old buildings to avoid gentrification

NYC Ferry’s Bronx route in Soundview launches

The new route connects the Bronx waterfront to Wall Street

NYC Ferry’s expansion continues today with the launch of its latest route: the long-promised connection between Soundview in the South Bronx, and several stops in Manhattan. The inaugural ride happened at about 6:30 a.m., with Mayor Bill de Blasio and Bronx Borough President Ruben Diaz Jr. among the officials who came out.

The new stop is located in Clason Point Park, at the end of Sound View Avenue, and promises to provide Bronx residents with more convenient access to parts of the Manhattan waterfront. It takes 45 minutes from start to finish, and stops at 90th Street on the Upper East Side, East 34th Street in Midtown, and Pier 11 at Wall Street.

Its connection to other transit options within the Bronx, however, is somewhat limited; buses takes riders to other parts of the borough, but the nearest subway station (at Morrison Avenue-Sound View) is a solid two miles away. To help make those connections easier, the MTA and NYC’s Economic Development Corporation (which has overseen the ferry’s launch and expansion) have expanded Bx27 service nearby to better coordinate with the ferry schedule.

This brings the number of NYC Ferry routes up to five, with a sixth—the Lower East Side—setting sail in two weeks. You can check out the full Soundview schedule on NYC Ferry’s website.

Brooklyn keeps on taking it.
Luxury Apartment Sales Plummet in New York City - WSJ

Don’t have the full article but Luxury Apartments in nyc fell 31% in rent.

Also add the fact that because of the L train construction Williamsburg rent has dipped to 2015 levels.

I’m not too surprised. For one I figured the luxury rental market in Brooklyn would fall simply because it’s a hard sell when Manhattan is nearby!

How foreign investors launder their money in New York real estate

"The flood of outside cash rolling into New York real estate has numerous downsides. Most obviously, it drives up prices for actual New Yorkers who are looking to buy. But it also drives up rents, by keeping many perfectly good apartments empty. Many foreign investor properties are rented out, but many are not. Per the New York article: "The Census Bureau estimates that 30 percent of all apartments in the quadrant from 49th to 70th Streets between Fifth and Park are vacant at least 10 months a year."

Taking Trump’s Corruption Seriously - The Ezra Klein Show (podcast)

Adam Davidson talked about how NYC real estate would probably collapse if money laundering laws were actually enforced.

:mjlol: don't get why so many of these folks move to NYC when occasional subway track work where parts of subway lines or entire subway lines aren't running are typical. i could only imagine how these same folks would manage when they were doing construction work on the trains on the williamsburg bridge back in like 1999 until 2003 where the trains weren't running. forget it if we were talking about the manhattan bridge now. i remember when they had shut the south side for almost 20 years. the entire 90s, the south side of the tracks weren't running. the n used to run on the manhattan bridge but it went on the r line going downtown to city hall, the world trade center, rector and whitehall and through the tunnel. it was only the b, d, and q running on the north side and the q was the orange logo with the b and q going all the way to queensbridge. the same orange that is in the artwork of the broadway musical avenue q. then around 2001, the south side opened and it would be the n, q and w running. no b or d trains. they were also fixing up the stillwell avenue station and the n train only would go right down to 86th street. those were the days. that's why i'm like... you have entire folks fukking running leaving williamsburg because the L train isn't running across the east river? :hhh: just that one little thing got them tripping?

Lmao you must be my twin cause I had to tell these hipsters at my last job that my family had to deal with 16 years of the broadway side of Manhattan bridge being closed and then 4 years of the 6th ave side being closed when they finally completed the Broadway side.

Lmao man the MTA like a lot of these companies are scared of these suburb raised children.

Had Williamsburg been what it was back in the 80s I bet the MTA wouldn’t have hesitated to say that shyt will closed for 3 years.

I bet they wouldn’t hesisrate to close the the Brownsville, East NY and Canarsie half for a few years :mjpls:

exactly, these cats are tripping, fam.

i still don't understand what's the logic of these folks from the suburbs moving into nyc and what they're expecting from NYC. do they realize that they're riding on public transportation and unless they have a car of their own, they are pretty much at the will of the bus and train schedule unless they walk. even the whole bike lane thing is like... :hhh: sorry but don't think it's a great idea to be biking all over nyc with the congestion, all the bad roads, double parking and the whole nine. it's too risky and dangerous. nothing is wrong with the suburbs. these folks either need to stay in the suburbs or just get used to the city life instead of bullshytting.

They want to be no more than 30 minutes from their jobs and they are serious. Even though my area Midwood has a subway it’s not viewed as cool cause the ride to midtown is easy 45-50 minutes. Too long for the hipster lol
