All you can do.

"I don’t think there’s anything we can do with the dwindling membership that’s something that the churches have to deal with," she said. "What we can do is try to help churches not be exploited by developers as some churches have been."

Save Harlem Now! also wants to explore some sort of rezoning that allows the air rights of landmarked churches to be used anywhere in the district, similar to what was done in the Theater District, Bradley added.

Man reading shyt like this makes my blood boil. So basically DeBlasio's affordable housing plan is accelerating gentrification. This clown is a fukking crook. He took mad money from these real estate developers and gave them contracts to build those "affordable housing" units. Which in turn will be bought by upper middle class hipsters. And to think Latinos and Black folk are going to vote for his clown ass next November. To think I voted for him because he was going to end Stop and Frisk and come up with a plan for affroadable housing. SMH its like next year we have no choice. We either pick a racist Republican who will bring back Giuliani area policing and give free reign to the developers. Or Deblasio who is already bought and sold by the real estate developers. Either if you are lower middl class or poor you are screwed.
Yo, I been saying to people for the longest that DiBlasio was the goddamn devil. He sold NYC a bill of good. He hoodwinked the shyt out of the city in a way I've never seen. I never thought it'd get this bad under him. I'm not going to say anything wild or suspect, but if an angry mob tore him apart in the streets it'd be more than he deserved.

Any way I can get an apartment in BK for under $1200 per month or maybe a studio?
1200 is nothing these days. Sadly. good luck though.
So practically impossible to live by yourself for under $2000 in Brooklyn. So how do people live in NYC? It's just a bunch of grown ass people sharing apartments and rooms?
It's pretty shytty now. I'm a teacher making 63k and I still have a roommate. I hope to get my own space this year, but I don't know. Might have to move in together with my lady or something. Thing is, not only is the rent too damn high (Shoutouts to Jimmy McMillan), but the criteria to even get looked at are insane as well. I seen some wild shyt like you have to make 4x more a month than you pay in rent or some shyt like that. It's rigged as fukk out here. You gotta know someone, have a co-signer, be in a relationship/have a roommate and all that shyt. It's fukked up as fukk out here. Seriously.

This is wild. I am having a bunch of interviews with NYC firms and the only thing in my profession in order to make connects and move further ahead professionally you have to be in NYC. If that wasn't the case, I wouldn't even contemplate living there. I am not trying to stay all the way uptown in the Bronx or all the way in Queens for a long ass commute to Manhattan. Man this is sad news. Good looking out.

I'm screwed. Are these hipsters entrepreneurs, do they work on Wall Street or are they artists types (if they are where are they getting this type of money) or are the parents just wealthy?
The stereotype of a typical hipster is they work in Starbucks and their parents pay for their lifestyle. I kid you not this is the case. They live in NYC for about 5 years. Get married or have kids and move to Queens or Long Island.Trust fund kids to the 3rd degree. Most the Wall Street cacs either live in Manhattan,Connecticut or Jersey.

In all honesty Queens is the best bet now. It's a dope boro to live....if you got a car.:francis: Once my career is established I'm leaving BK for Queens. Brooklyn is the new Manhattan.

Oh yeah. The "these out of towners are invading from Ohio" are exaggerated in the media. That's still the very much the case but that's only one factor.

From my encounters at work, most of the transplant coworkers i know that moved here are escaping their parents' cribs from the surrounding burbs in Connecticut, LI, and Jersey.

Why don't you tell us from the salary offers from your interviews and you can adjust it to where you can afford to live.

Queens is pretty quiet, more affordable, and nice to live but trains are more sparse than BK. Bronx isn't far and you can definitely find reasonable spots(unless you bear hearing loud Dominican music at 1am) close to Manhattan on the 4 and D lines without being near the projects.

Personally i would choose Queens more since theres much more to do if you don't feel like being in Manhattan(though you're gonna have to go through Manhattan anyway if you wanna chill in Brooklyn anyway since that's how the subway system is designed.)

Yeah. It's rough out here. I'm low key saving and hoping for this bubble to pop, but idk. I might do like the other breh said and move to queens or parts of Jerz.

Yep. A large number of them have their lifestyle subsidized by their folks. Others pack up like 3-4 to apartments. I legit worked with a grown ass man who had a roommate. As in he shared a fukking room just to be able to say he lived in some part of Williamsburg.

Man there is absolutely nothing wrong with having a roommate. That’s the cost of living here. If you are able to get a 2 bedroom or a large 1 bedroom use Airbnb to help with your cost. Only on the coli is having a roommate frown upon.

Damn that sucks. So basically in a city of 8 million people the overwhelming majority are struggling with keeping up with finances including rent?. That's sad. This is rigged man. So most New Yorkers are like 1-2 paychecks away from being messed up?

I'm not saying there is. I have a roommate. A roommate in the sense that she has her own room, I have mine. I can't reconcile sharing a room with another adult that isn't my lady. It is what it is. I'm not knocking it by calling it what it is.

Yeah. I mean, lemme make this absolutely claro. This is the best city in the world. I love it. You just gotta be on point financially.
