Nikkas are delusional. They fail to realize NYC is a city for the super rich. Like London, Paris and Tokyo. We lost. They had homes for sale in Harlem for like a $1 in the 80s. Why nikkas didn't buy houses I have no idea. Some blacks did and now they're millionaires. Everybody else getting pushed out or already got pushed out.

People think by seeing a random c00n or bedwench, means that NYC will still have a large black population :heh:

That 2 million, would go down to 300k or less due to the hyperinflation of rent prices.

Yeah and there would be nothing wrong with it. I don't see the gentrifiers or the real estate companies as doing anything wrong.

People thought nyc was forever because they were born and raised there and as such got complacent and comfortable..

in a sense you can't blame them. nyc was a shyt hole and people failed to see its value.
Soon as it grew a new reputation as a clean safe city the gentrification exploded.

All Black people can do is learn from this..

Of course I'm concerned, but when you don't control the money, this is what happens.

it fukkin sux, but that's capitalism. My aunt lives in South Bronx off Creston Ave, my other aunt lives a little farther north off gun barrel. My father, grandmother, grandaunt all live in Esplanade Gardens off 147th and 7th in Harlem. When I visit, I see the shyt going down.

You also got areas that legitimately look like shyt and have been for years in valuable areas getting bought up and revitalizing the area. Is that something to be upset at? I can't sit and lie and say it is. But on the other hand when cats get forced out of places, I have a problem with that, especially if they own the jawn.

In a capitalistic society, living in certain areas isn't a right. When the money potential gets too big in certain areas, gentrification happens. At least those who own shyt can get a check out of it. It's better than nothing.

It is a problem. It flies in the face of the white people wagging their fingers saying "why are all African American communities so bad". AA communities, especially communities that are in or close to large urban cities, have an inverse relationship with quality of life. The moment the neighborhood shows signs of promise, it's primed for gentrification. It's kinda sick when you think of it that way. African Americans can't live in areas that are desirable because then it becomes desirable to people who have the money to displace them. In one of my classes it touched on that. A lot of neighborhoods in NYC would turn down and oppose green initiatives and the construction of new parks because they knew by building those parks and lush green spaces it would attract white people who would attract businesses and luxury residential development and suddenly they're all out of their houses. When I say large urban cities, I mean communities in cities like Washington D.C., New York, Chicago, San Francisco, Los Angeles. Cities like Atlanta, Houston and Charlotte can live because white people want an urban lifestyle, not one with commutes and suburban sprawl which most cities in the South are. All those blacks in these urban cities basically have an incentive to keep their neighborhoods a certain way in order to shun away "revitalization" and "urban renewal" and whatever other cryptic language they use to describe the process of kicking out the black folk :comeon:

Let's be serious....having access to everything kills the incentive to think long term. Cities weren't even designed to raise kids properly.

Yes but we are also a generally complacent people who take things very lightly till we get bit right in the ass as always. there was little foresight and future planning from most Black nyc residents. of course we always wish we knew what we know now in the past but it's too late for Black nyc residents.
The hard truth is that the vast majority will never own their own space in nyc.
The only migration down south could be testament of that. we all know they want us out of the city not just hidden away.

Exactly. The substandard living of many black folk in NYC caused it. You really think that those old buildings are gonna be there, unchanged for another 200 years with the same neighborhood fukkery? :beli:

Read up the projects and what was their initial purpose of it. It was like a midway housing unit for European immigrants to save money and move to the burbs or real estate in the good parts of the city. It was never made to be permanent. Some black folk were :manny: about doing something about it, and now we are paying the price. And that price is almost disappearing from almost all NYC areas in another 20 years.

Yeah that's sad..I'd seen a documentary on how many current Black areas were originally full of cacs..even places like Compton.
And when the whites have had enough they will knock them down..
It's pathetic. shelter is a human right and considering how few Black home owners there are it really puts our already dire situation in perspective.

Even if 50% more black folk owned their property, this situation wouldn't have exploded like this. Gentrification of this wide scale exposes who really about their money working for them, and the short sighted bullshytters.

Bring an Apple Store to the Bronx, local officials say

:lolbron::mjlol: Ruben Diaz is not even trying to hide it, he wants the hipsters to come through.
Would you rather have Metro PCS everywhere like it is now?

An Apple Store in the BX is not that serious. They shoulda been had one by the Multiplex. See, getting different stores isn't a problem.

Meanwhile, they're gonna shut down the one Barnes & Noble in the borough, so some shyt changes some stays the same.

The Bronx will gentrify
Actually anywhere with good transit to Manhattan will

Nigs in this very thread still denial
The Bronx by and large doesn't have great transit. You can get to Manhattan but that never changed. You just can't go across unless you know the bus routes.

And like I've always said, gentrification is not the problem. Displacement is. The stores that pop up don't displace residents. Nobody's tearing down houses to make chain stores. They're replacing what was already there (in some cases those were stores that had no real use to anyone anymore, those hood stores that sold beepers, fake jewelry, sneakers and hats all in one). Having nicer shyt is fine. Just cuz I don't like displacement doesn't mean I enjoy the piece of shyt some spots are.

The BX can't fully gentrify. It's not physically possible.
