u think 2k a month is too low for that area?
most places in nyc 2500 and under is a 'steal' compared to housing out here :snoop:

and is it :flabbynsick: to live across the river in jersey city/hoboken etc? i want a place with views :noah:

Hoboken is just as expensive as parts of Manhattan and CACville. if you college age or just out of college you'll like it

Brooklyn Heights is shyt unless youre an old money cac lawyer raising a pretentious cac child.

:sadcam:
are all the 'prime' locations pretty much gentrified now, particularly ones with views of manhattan?

:heh:

Have u been in prison the last 20 years

A 1 BR in a prime location in NYC is gonna run you at least $3K

U can get a decent place in a 2nd tier location (Astoria, Prospect Heights, Upper East Side) for like $2K.

Don't forget u save a good amount of money not having a car. Everything me n wifey save on rent, we end up paying in gas, insurance and my toys :shaq:

But at the end of the day, eventually u have to decide what you're gonna do at 40, 50, 60.... financially, moving to NYC makes no sense as there is no way you will be able to build equity or have any kind of quality of life with a family or in old age on a $2K for rent budget. So its either move there and blow a hundred K or so to say you did it... or move somewhere "boring" and sock money away.

I moved to Charlotte after 28 yrs in NYC and it's been the best move I ever made. Charlottes not NYC and it never will be.... but it has its own things going that in many ways are just as satisfying. NYC is still the greatest city in the world, but in the last ~15 years it's become a terrible place to live for anyone but the young and/or rich.

SF is more expensive than nyc and im single with no debt. 3000$ in sf gets u a 600sq studio in a neighborhood with nothing going on for blocks. i gota get the fukk out of here, i figure if im gona get raped for rent i might as well live in an actual city and not this shyt hole. my 40s are 10+ years away, but u have a point about living in a city that expensive once you've 'settled down' and maybe didnt pull out on time and regrettably impregnated a woman. fukk. no future in it unless you're rich :sadcam:

Well if you can spend $3000 on a studio you can live in Manhattan. Downtown. West Village.

Hit or miss with rodent issues. If you tack on a few hundred you can go doorman.

:disgustya: @ spending $3K on a studio

Unless u are putting away 2-3x that much a month... that idea is stupid as hell

I would look around the country for a cheap city that is "good enough". I can go to NYC/SF/whereever whenever I want with the money I'm saving by not living there :yeshrug:

Hipsters >>>>> hood nikkas acting stupid in the streets

Major cities would be a better place to live if goons and hoodrats didn't live there.

Til they drive up the price of everything, and the police that are there to protect and serve everyone clearly target people who look like you to harass and bother, and as those people who look like you move out of the neighborhood more and more, you're stuck with more of them who look at you as an outsider and... Well, yeah, you get where I'm going with them. It's not like their arrival signals the dawn of a new utopia. Their coming means you gotta :camby:

That's misleading.. You have places like the south Bronx and Brownsville in NYC, massive ghettos that bring down the average rent. SF isn't built like that. Any place in NYC your going to want to live is not cheaper than SF

SFs ghettos are dwindling faster than anywhere, I'm sure you don't live in the tenderloin anyway and doubt you would lower yourself to that standard just to move here

Yeah as well as a bunch of areas nowhere near the "prime" parts. The city is huge and the more affordable parts seem to be either shytholes or nowhere near Manhattan.

shyt is craay everywhere I turn I'm surrounded by cacs walking around like they've been here since day one. :damn:
Man when I go to ENY I don't see a cacs anywhere.

Every day I walk around Crown Heights I'm like "Where did all the black people go?"

Only good thing about gentrification is the level of fitness has increased. Gyms popping up all over the place. Black women out there jogging in droves.

But yall keep talking about "black people not owning anything". Black people DID own their homes, but they either sold them or are renting them out and have moved elsewhere. Hell my old building had two successive black landlords before the last one sold it to a Jew.
