My issue is where are all the black people gonna go when gentrification gets really bad? It seems like all of them are being flushed out of America's major cities into the suburbs while the cities themselves get whiter and/or are being pushed down to the South.

Personally, I don't want to live in the South and hate the fact that most black people are being forced to settle for less instead of going for what they really want in life and live in the places they actually want to live in. A bad economy, inflation, and a lack of jobs has led to too many black people lingering around depressed areas they seem to not be able to leave due to a lack of education/degrees/certs/etc and a criminal lack of employement opportunities.
But why breh? Cheaper houses breh! Low taxes breh, who cares about human rights :troll:

But seriously, the great grandparents left for a reason... I know we complain about the NYPD, stop and frisk, but when something like that happens here, enough pressure will come down for a thorough investigation. Look what Florida has done three times now, the most egregious being Kaylee Anthony. That's the south in a nutshell.

Welcome2TheBronx | Condo Loft Listing Price of $900,000 Breaks Record in The South Bronx

A listing for a condo loft in the Mott Haven neighborhood of the South Bronx has broken a record with an asking price of $900,000.

Located at 305 East 140th Street at Bronx Bricks Condominiums, a converted building constructed in 1904, the 2,350 square foot apartment originally sold for $712,775 in 2007 at the peak of the market.

Bronx Bricks was the first privately financed condominium project in the South Bronx and when the 11 units were listed from $395,000 – $795,000 many balked at the prices and were skeptical that they would sell at such prices. The units all ended upselling from $388,362 – $789,143.

The spot looks nice but that view of the fukking projects?????? FOH with that shyt. Unless you're near that water (like the clocktower building) in Mott Haven it's not worth it. That area has a fukking maze of projects that you can see from the Deegan when you're zooming by on your way to civilization

they don't give AF no more and haven't for a while...gentrification eating NYC alive day by day...

yup. and its crazy because in the past 15 years when everyone saw this shyt happening the Bronx coulda but up some magical united front and literally told these developers to fall back. with all the money flowing in and out of the Bronx, people there should be owning tons of properties. It just seems like folks are enamored with that paying rent lifestyle and being complacent with the way shyt is. which sucks

the moment that new yankee stadium was proposed, that shoulda been a clear warning sign because you dont spend $1.2 billion on a stadium and "allow" it to be surrounded by ratchness. I bet that Mott Haven gets developed the fukk up on some bootleg Williamsburg shyt, The Grand Concourse from 149th to Fordham gets radically gentrified (those art deco style buildings are insanely valuable), Riverdale stays they way it is (in the cut and nice as fukk) and the ratchet areas stay they way they are but contained. The terrain of the Bronx makes it harder to conquer but theres just too much valuable land at stake for some hungry developers to not take a crack at.

I wonder if there's a point where it just stops though... Like, does the bubble ever burst? Does shyt start being too expensive, even for them? When is enough, enough?

There may be more areas primed for new houses if these catholic schools keep shutting down.

 @ being the people who paid almost a milly to live across from Mitchel. That loft better have come with a secret entrance. Otherwise they're food.

That area is tough to gentrify since you can't sell them on views and landmarks. At most you can sell them on accessibility. That won't be easy til the Q starts stopping in the BX when I'm 60.

Breh, I'll be watching down from the cosmos by the time the Second Ave Subway and its related connections are completed. So people shouldn't hold their breath for any extensions to the BX. There aren't even trains that go across the BX, which is clearly needed.

But I have a strong feeling that the people behind the scenes here in the city are looking for ways to get people out of the projects and reduce the sheer number of projects. The real estate the projects are on is just too valuable. Watch them come up with some bullshyt about the concrete in those building being poured improperly back in the day and they discovered cracks in most of the buildings and people have the vacate. Either use that or the good ol asbestos excuse to get people to get the fukk out

Most projects in the BX aren't on valuable land. Some of them are right on highways. The value isn't there. Just look at 170/Claremont. Nice ass row houses, bx11, the 2/5 on Freeman, a big ass park, stores everywhere, but only prostitutes, gangs and low income people fukk with it. When that sun sets that shyt turns into a Goosebumps book setting.

I'm talking about projects thru out NY also. Look a Polo Grounds or Farragut projects in BK near DUMBO. And lets not even mention the ones on the west side near Chelsea breh. I bet they find a way to clear those fukking buildings.
