We still have a chance brehs. Come down south brehs. Its so easy. Let those idiots up north struggle with all those crippling economic forces. Its a fool's game. You can come down south and be a homeowner on a $40K/yr income.
Where do you live again?

My next couple of posts might anger some New Yorkers

Also, many New Yorkers are stuck out there thinking at outside of the Tri-State area the United States is a wasteland.

Its YOUR LOSS if you are not benefiting from the city financially and living comfortably. If you are living there just because "There is SO MUCH TO DO" you are not doing it right.

I would say there is a 90% chance you will be stuck in your same "class" your entire life if you don't look for alternative ways to improve your life.

I had a conversation about this with @NYC Rebel in this very thread I believe. This line in particular got to me because my mom had to experience it with the new people moving into Washington Heights.

I see the gut renovation my landlord did as soon as we moved out and feel disgusted.

Some of you cats need to realize that there are no friends in business. The whole country is a business and if you don't start realizing and prioritizing correctly you will become the puppet that goes to Times Square to blow thousands of dollars every single year and continuously working 50+ hour weeks just go to right back into the same cycle.

There is no point in getting angry either, the country/state/city/block is not going to change for a few that they feel are disposable to make more money.

I ridden the SI express buses and SIR to the white areas of SI and I didn't notice any :mjpls: behavior from the locals there.

Long Island and Westchester though :mjpls:
Must not have not noticed any on those days, but I think overall SI is the most racist part of NYC/Surrounding areas by far judging by the stories I read and my past experiences.

I was in a diner in SI with my girlfriend and I swear to you I am not sure how the lady sitting behind me did not put a hole through my mets cap.

the south is cool but people got to realize it aint for everybody
i know a bunch of people who moved down south and ended up coming back or moving elsewhere cause things dried up quick.....thats why im weary about of moving out there

but living in the DMV i do notice a lot more NY/NJ transplants.......
Make your own decisions and stop fearing you might feel the same way others do.

What do you have to lose by trying? If you are living down near Central Park, bringing in 100K+ a year then I might be able to hear your argument. If not? Nah, I am sorry...you just sound like you are scared.

Staten island is segregated as hell. But I've been around all parts of it and never had a problem. I just don't expect anywhere to have all races living in a utopia among each other. I'm not against it, but I'm just realistic about things.

NYC has many opportunities, people aren't going to moved to a region where republicans dominate, wages are low, and employees are treated unfairly. In your ideal world what should happen?

It's heartbreaking to see people who have been there for over 50 years displaced. It's a loss of culture that won't be replaced.

I don't agree and even if we want to argue semantics I still think there are more opportunities down south or just outside of NYC.

Explore all your options, why would ANYONE limit themselves to such a small percentage of the country? That doesn't make sense.

The key is to OWN or have a DAMN good business plan that is almost bulletproof. Owning is clearly a problem for MOST of us and that is strictly a finance issue. Do you really think the people here on the Coli are balling out and being able to check out property in downtown Manhattan? Hell, almost any nice building in Manhattan is going to run you 1+ million and thats even before maintenance and everything else is factored in.

Just ONE example:
Why not look at a place like Detroit? Granted, Detroit is not the best place to live, but it doesn't mean that it doesn't represent an opportunity for us. The prices in Detroit are at ROCK BOTTOM and you can look at it in 3 ways.

1 - Buy and sit on the property until the situation improves, then fix and sell
2 - Buy, fix and throw it for Government housing ASAP to get that money rolling in - You mostly get paid by the government and they give you market rate (couple of headaches though)
3 - Buy a couple of properties in a small radius and have a great impact on how things turn out in the city

Now realistically how many opportunities are out there in NYC in where the average hourly worker is going to have those kind of opportunities? Right, not much. In detroit with a 100K investment you might be able to scoop up 10 properties that you can fix up slowly. Get the ball rolling with 1 of them under Section 8 and keep pumping the rest. The shyt is really not that complicated AND you are also providing a good service for the community provided that you are offering them a nice place to live...not some dump.
