She might not be making big bucks, but to me it sounds like she knew what she wanted to do with her degree, but she just wasn’t lucky to get anything with it.

Even ten years ago the publishing industry was on a clear decline because of the Internet. Many magazines were already struggling and have since gone out of business. Same story with a lot of newspapers. It's trivial to recycle online news as well. You'll see exactly the same article on news sites from all over the world, so less demand for journalists.

People don't get the scholarships because they don't apply for them. People go for FAFSA and call it a day. Talmbout I didn't get any grants so I just took out loans. The majority of scholarships just want a 500 word essay. Put the time in, write a good one, you can keep reusing that work for the next scholarship. We had kids walking out of high school with enough scholarships it was if they had a full ride. Even having 50% paid for is better than nothing .

fukk that college shyt breh. I went when I was 20 and dropped out owing 8k, went into default for not making payments. I paid it off last year and am making 26/hr and moving up. A lot of my old friends who went to college struggle to find work, I feel for them but that college life is a scam with the debt that's involved
