Y’all keep clowing girl because of her degree, but I’m sure she was told the same lie many blacks are told about getting a degree and making it in life.

And before y’all say, “what she gonna do with an English degree?”

She said she had a plan to use it for a publishing company.

She might not be making big bucks, but to me it sounds like she knew what she wanted to do with her degree, but she just wasn’t lucky to get anything with it.

People need to stop blaming the pursuit of education for overall dumb decisions. Will put more research into buying a used car than payment options for college. Them dummies knew when they were at $200k+, it was a problem and now look at them.

It’s because they pushing college so heavy in the high schools now. I know so many mfs who dropped out after the first year, terrible students in high school but them guidance counselors were pushing them to go.

They’d call me down every week

“ So have you applied to any schools or for financial aid:mjgrin:

“Nope, going into the union trades foh:camby:

Not going to college is the wisest decision I’ve ever made. Completely debt free at 21:banderas:

40k a year no debt vs 65k a year with 50k student loan debt :hula:

I’ll take my situation over many of my friends with degrees

If you had took he time and applied to financial aid and scholarships, you would be making 65k-80k with no debt. :patrice:

With my English degree in hand, I was ready to face the world

:pachaha:

See there’s the first mistake. It’s not going to college but knowing the right degree to have. An English degree is worthless. There’s pretty much a million baristas at Starbucks who have English degrees.

I’m sorry but they put themselves in this crazy position.

Not everybody gets those scholarships and shyt :mjlol:

They claim that it’s so much free money for school out here, why so many people in debt then :ohhh:

Some of the smartest people I graduated with who hustled for grants scholarships etc, only had maybe 50-75% of they school paid for.

"I’d scroll down my social media timeline and compare myself to others. They appeared to be traveling, shopping and building perfect homes. On the other side of the screen, I was pregnant, full of dreams and broke. I later enrolled in school for my master’s degree to fill an emotional void. A decision that cost me $64,595.44. After three years of rejections, Otis gave up on being a dentist, and he earned an MBA in health administration for a whopping $101,000. Whew, I’m out of breath typing about it! Our problem was that we were trying to fit into a life that I don’t believe was designed for us."

:snooze:

Two dummies. He shoulda applied in a small town and she should have made a YouTube and sold crafts with her kids lol

:umad: fukk that college shyt breh. I went when I was 20 and dropped out owing 8k, went into default for not making payments. I paid it off last year and am making 26/hr and moving up. A lot of my old friends who went to college struggle to find work, I feel for them but that college life is a scam with the debt that's involved
You sound stupid

Im surprised you said her degree wasn’t an l. What can she really do with it tho? All I can think of if it’s not in writing she could work for the government or something.
She could have gotten into journalism or whatever the hell it was she wanted to do. The problem is she didn't start at the goal and work backwards from there. I'm pretty sure I told you the same thing several months ago. Figure out what you want to do, then figure out what leads into that, then what leads into that, and so on until you get to your current situation.

People don't get the scholarships because they don't apply for them. People go for FAFSA and call it a day. Talmbout I didn't get any grants so I just took out loans. The majority of scholarships just want a 500 word essay. Put the time in, write a good one, you can keep reusing that work for the next scholarship. We had kids walking out of high school with enough scholarships it was if they had a full ride. Even having 50% paid for is better than nothing :comeon:.

This is what happens when you have no hustle in you
Sometimes you have to look at the numbers and make a common sense decision. They were struggling with undergraduate degrees, so take out six more figures for advanced degrees?!! They are slow as a unit. Then had kids on top of it.
