I have Tidal, any album I consider a 8/10 or better I go out and purchase. I still stream after that but like having physicals.

It’s undermonetized relative to other forms of media consumption - especially when you factor engagement.

Id pay way more for my subscription and certainly more than my video streaming products.

I think streaming music is too cheap but then again also don't think it's right to pay for an incomplete library either.

I have never and for the foreseeable future will not use streaming much less pay for it.

If there was some way all the record companies could come together and get all the sample clearance issues squared away on all the original versions of songs and other unreleased tracks I care about (which is an abundance and the main reason I don't stream) then I would definitely consider it but until then I'll stay in my old ways.

The apathy is mutual between us so I'm good.

Or it was too expensive to begin with.

Artists are funny people, they always act like they’re not the most capitalistic people out there cause they run around with Bernie shirts.

Go ahead and remove your shyt from streaming services and sell it for whatever price you want. No one is stopping you if you own your shyt.

That's ridiculous. $10 for an album that took a year or 2 to make is not too expensive. Employing guest artists, engineers, producers,
legal, publicists isn't free. Demanding that an artist give you their art for next to nothing is some seriously entitled shyt.

98% of albums don’t take that long these days. Making a beat these days is NOTHING like it used to be in the 90s. Making the beat in an MP (or whatever), tracking it, recording onto physical tape, recording vocals onto tape, so many many many takes and versions before settling on one version, mixing, even mastering can all be done at home with relatively inexpensive equipment. Besides touring, the actual recording process is what took the most time back in the days. These days you can record EASILY and cheaply on your or at home.

I’m not disagreeing that music is worth more money, just pointing out that things have indeed changed a lot.

Artists just have to swallow that pill and be their own buisness like virtually everybody in every other industry known to man has to if they want to maximize their profit potential. Idk why in the music industry nikkas got to suck the tit of companies so damn much. Streaming can get you paid if you make the kind of music people can’t deny (which is not that hard if you’re dedicated to your work and expand your horizons) but that money gotta come straight to you, not a label with managers and a&rs. But of course that’s not if you’re trying to be a superstar, which is overrated as fukk in the first place.

I'm a super music head. I pay for Tidal Hifi, Apple Music, and Qobuz Hi-res. I'll gladly pay upwards of $100 a month for hi-res flac content. If you don't care about sound quality, Spotify for whatever the cost a month is, is cheap as shyt. I used to buy 3 albums a week in the 90s. I want that new shyt. The fact that it is so cheap now is amazing to me. It should cost more. I'm not complaining though
