20 bucks a month is the equivalent of buying 12 albums a year, most people didn't buy 12 cds a year before streaming. So streaming actually generates more money but now people are buying 12 albums a year, but consuming 1 album a week, so the royalties are being split amongst way more artists. Big artists with dedicated fambases like Kanye, Taylor Swift etc would make more without streaming because their fans would purchase an album if they had no choice. Alot of mid rappers benefit from streaming because we are only listening to them out of curiosity, but nobody would actually buy their shyt.

James Blake explaining his venture with "Vault" streaming service was added to the OP. Any thoughts on that?

I'm about to upgrade to IPHONE today and I'm honestly contemplating whether I should stream.

Can anyone that's a IPhone user provide me with some apps that I can drag and drop my old Gucci Mane tapes??

Answer plz

Or it was too expensive to begin with.

Artists are funny people, they always act like they’re not the most capitalistic people out there cause they run around with Bernie shirts.

Go ahead and remove your shyt from streaming services and sell it for whatever price you want. No one is stopping you if you own your shyt.

It’s always been easy to make music
You are a white chick born in 2003, so it makes sense you’d say that. It has never been this easy to make music. The pure technology and accessibility makes your statement a flat out lie.

Vinyl is booming rn. If you can get 50,000 people to buy your vinyl/cassette (easier said than done) you will eat good, that's before we factor revenue from live shows.

getting those 50k records pressed is the hard part :lolbron:
