This will be his legacy :francis: piss poor planning because of a piss poor decision. The refugee situation is going to be another story.

When the $3 trillion reconciliation package passes along with the $550 billion bi-partisan infrastructure deal, Biden will be flying high again

All of this is true.

Obama wanted the troops pulled out in 2013 i’ll add.

Obama ran on basically "pull troops out, let the Drones wreck shop over there" which is why the Drone program expanded so much under him (along with the start of the misconception of "Obama drone strikes killed so many civilians! :damn:" ).

That was until Gen. McChrystal, and the rest of the combatant commanders cried like bytches about Obama micromanaging them and fukking up Afghan operations. Admitedly Obama was instrumental in pushing the failed "win hearts and minds" strategy of nation building, but the Pentagons idea of keep throwing bodies and bombs was honestly no better.

Its arguable that the Brass just wanted to keep fighting because those Service Academy fakkits didnt want a Vietnam style quagmire on their CVs.:hhh:

Trump and Pompeo made a deal with the Taliban in February 2020 to withdraw in May 2021.

Biden comes in office in January 2021. In April 2021, he proposes to extend the withdrawal date by 4 months to September 11. Then bumps it back a couple weeks to August 31.

DOD, DOS, etc have had ample time to put the logistics together.

There were zero US civilian or military causalities in Afghanistan in the last 18 months. Zero. Until this ISIS-K attack.

We airlifted over 80,000 people in the last week or so alone. Only a couple hundred U.S. citizens are left and the rest of the Americans there are dual-nationals who will want to stay in Afghanistan for now and come back to the USA on their own time.

This isn't hard.

i hate this kind of point in particular though.... the lack of casualties doesn't mean that things are quiet. or security isn't absolutely fukking critical. it means that we got so damned good at nipping shyt in the bud that people could get comfortable - and that clearly translated to complacency leading to this shytshow where people don't even know if they can get to the airport. or in many cases where people even are.

that's exactly what this clusterfukk is right now. its not a plan, its hoping and wishing that planes don't get shot down at the last main choke point into and out of afghanistan. its a LOT easier to ensure safety and make demands when you're still the dominant force in the area.

there's no point in acting like at least hitting the lights couldn't have been done better.
