Big fan obviously
X-files was cool because you’d actually learn some cool stuff by watching the show. “Well actually Scully, research has shown that ppl are in fact capable of..” etc etc. Always enjoyed that back and forth banter between the agents. Gave it a sense of reality in a way.
And I for one enjoy Scully as I align with her skepticism in real life. As a teen I LOVED reading about UFOs, cryptozoology and the paranormal and this show was heaven sent! So was “Sightings”. But once I was a young adult I threw all that out the window. Big skeptic of nearly everything these days although there are some YouTube channels I consider a guilty pleasure
.
But yeah I think Scully was a decent balance to Mulder who’s super gullible and has gotten duped or been wrong and/or been given false leads plenty of times on the show. I’m currently only watching the Arc episodes and I’m on season 4. haven’t watched in a long long time. Watching with my kids and they love it.
To me, the X-files is legendary because it’s an anthology show diving into all types of spooky paranormal and government conspiracy subjects. We hadn’t seen anything like that up to that point on network TV. Mostly had to get your fix with horror or fantasy stuff. X-files filled that void for us 90s teens who were a bit different.
btw, it’s not my favorite show believe it or not. My abolute favorite is The Twilight Zone (1959-1964). Hands down top 3 tv show of all time. Still watch episodes til this day. In fact, I think I’ll make a thread on it.
