Okay... I'm just gonna do some quick math here. If Mulan was released in theaters worldwide on a full theater schedule it would likely make between $800 million and $1 billion. I'm not going to say more than that because Aladdin did a little over a billion, it's not as popular as Aladdin I don't think..
So let's say it made $900 million at the box office.
The studio would keep probably around half of that... little more than half. Roughly $500 million. So they are halfway there? I don't think it will reach over $500 million at this stage.
There's a reason why these studios are all postponing until next Summer. Theaters are still where the most bread at.
Under the traditional model, movies basically have to make triple their budge to "break even" because of the costs of the movie itself, marketing for it and theatres and vendors taking their cut.
If this 260 million is true, they basically bypass most of the costs they have to cover so making triple is not needed anymore, this could be a win/win for studios.
Not a chance in hell those numbers are true
SO IT DID 36 MILLION?
THE LINK IN THAT TWEET
SAID 1.2 MILLION BUYS.
