No matter how you spin it, the person is an idiot for turning it down.

So instead of MTV owning the rights to a movie that there is almost no chance of being made the person decides to keep doing nothing?

Fact of the matter is the person probably wasnt chosen. If they took the time to send in one of those absurd audition tapes to get on the show they wouldnt have been turned away due to MTV making money off of them when they in turn would also be seeing more money than they are now also.

so that person is an idiot for saying no to mtv running their lives?

breh, i actually went to one of those real world tryouts, fam and mtv really does own your life. it says it right in the contract too. you can't do shyt unless mtv gives you permission.

Did you see the link with the MTV contract? I can't blame her for turning it down. You almost sign your soul to MTV.

Yeah ive seen it, for a year after filming they basically own everything that has to do with your life and for up to 5 you have to participate in a bunch of shyt.

But my point is, if you are interested in a show that is going to broadcast your every move and portray you in lights that may not be accurate you should already be prepared for that going in. I mean has the person not seen any of these shows before?

So im not saying she is dumb for not doing it at all, she is dumb for wanting to be on the show, getting the opportunity, then declining it because they would be too far in her life. Hello, thats the point of the damn show.

you are an idiot. you can do shyt. the production company makes the contract and there are different production companies for different shows

False. No one in NJ relates to Jersey Shore, they're not even from Jersey. That shyt was just outrageous, comical and entertaining to see a show full of white trash.

seems like your biased opinion

my point is that Jersey Shore as a name and idea for a show is way more inclusive than Washington Heights, a show centered on one neighborhood that no one knows about past Harlem and the Bronx

But Jersey Shore was based on Seaside. My opinion isn't biased, ask people from jersey, they'd say those kids are more comical than relatable.

:laff: you from jersey?

no
the point I'm making in case you missed it is that Washington Heights is a way more limiting theme than Jersey Shore, which is ambiguously named after a shoreline of an entire state, not some Dominican enclave of upper Manhattan that barely anyone outside of upper Manhattan and the Bronx even knows about

is there more to the Jersey shore than Seaside? yes

is there more to Washington Heights than Washington Heights? no

add in the race dynamics (Italian-American caucasians vs. Dominican hispanics) and Jersey Shore is clearly more widely accessible

If the creators of this new show were smart they would've casted a mixed crowd rather than all Dominicans or else even closely related hispanic subgroups won't watch the show (i.e. Puerto Ricans)

I'm not sure if they casted only Dominicans or not, I don't really care either

So MTV's done exploiting Italians and are moving onto Dominicans now :ohhh:

Honestly, I'd rather see a reality show about 40 oz Van's life

Ok, but if you watch Jersey Shore or have ever been to seaside you know they go no where and take a cab for appearance.

Also, a lot of the cast (ie. Snooki, Ronnie ect) aren't Caucasian. The producers lied about their lives..

If Baldwin Hills, College Hill (Ect) could survive on BET I'm sure MT. Could market this show.

I'm not saying that everyone in NJ is like the cast of Jersey Shore, I'm saying everyone has some idea of the guido subculture and knows what those people are like, and probably even knows people who are similar to cast members

this latino-centered show is far from that, take a 15 drive away from Washington Heights to the UWS or UES and you might as well be in another country

I don't see how this show can win
If it accurately depicts the neighborhood then no one outside of it will care
If it doesn't accurately depict the neighborhood then its main audience will reject it (we've already seen it happen in this thread)

overall, lame idea

those are black shows on a black network
black shows have some track record of success which cannot be said of latino shows (I can't even think of a latino show)

if this show goes un-latino as possible then maybe it could last, but if that's their goal then naming the show after a place with a 95% or higher Dominican population doesn't make much sense

The "guido subculture" was damn near nonexistent around here until jersey shore happened. It inaccurately depicted people from the shore and if you think about it those people were casted, actors. It's the same thing.. I'm sure MTV will work it out.
