Mr. Hotspot wouldn't clear the sample on Super Soak for religious reasons and Drake & Yachty leaked it anyway

Drake not charging for features??

Nah. An artist of Drake’s caliber doesn’t need to do a feature for income so if he does one, he genuinely likes you or the song. Also a drake feature would likely blow an artist’s budget. I imagine he’s taking a larger piece of the backend than normal in exchange.

Your telling me brah cant sue after Yachty said in the example that artist can perform it and still get paid that way. I feel like someone would have explored this before tho

This happens all the time. All those free mixtapes we listened to were full of uncleared samples, and rappers would perform those songs at shows

People around the world get paid to do cover songs at shows without permission.

Shyt can’t be monetized through major distribution tho. That’s when you open yourself up to lawsuits

2 things

2. Very disrespectful to the artist to cut him off like that and still leak the song
No one in the music business is respectful if it's gonna disturb "the vibe" or their ego

As much of a hoe Big Sean is this is exactly why he felt like he couldn't say anything to Kanye

Didn't Mac Miller get sued for sampling Lord Finesse on a mixtape track tho? For like 10 mil and DatPiff wasn't charging for it. Think he couldn't perform that track anymore either afterwards.

People are only allowed to do covers for artists the venue already paid for via ASCAP/BMI, the same rules apply for DJs, it covers damn near every artist tho so that's why you never hear any issues

There was a thread about Boosie suing a club for not having the license to play his shyt like a month ago on here

Mind you, in that same interview he was wondering why people don't like Drake...:snoop:

Kendrick didn’t get any type of clearance from Al Green for 6:16 so he put it on IG instead of streaming services…?

Neither of these things bother me at all. But people using this as ‘Drake ammo’ just shows how selective people are with shyt like this. When something so similar just happened.

It comes down to whether you like the person or not, just say that. I like Drake and Kendrick’s music both so this shyt is all dumb to me.

It's a little different if this guy actually told them no and they went ahead anyway, this track serves no greater purpose that they needed to rush it out, just work on a different beat and drop it later, if this was a diss track in the middle of the beef then yes I'd agree just drop that shyt because a bigger goal is in front of you

Kendrick was in the middle of beef with the biggest artist in the game, not the time or place to worry about a sample clearing when none of those tracks were going to be on a project anyway, it was war.

How are you comparing the urgency behind releasing a diss track while the world is watching/waiting and this regular song?

I don't even see how or why people are dragging the Kendrick/Drake discourse into this but y'all all need to stop, this shyt is ruining every conversation on this board at this point and it's just getting more nonsensical by the hour
