I found myself rooting for Walt to the end.
I knew he'd get what he deserved but part of me wanted to see the bad guy win. It was like Death Note the anime. So many forms of entertainment media are afraid to let the bad guy win.

Walt is one of the better villains I've seen in my life. I'm a sucker for a good villain.

When he threw Faye in the bushes, I washed my hands of him.:scust:
i haven't watched the last half of the last season yet if it's in that :pachaha: but yeah man. He's sympathetic (all protagonists are by default), but I couldn't see myself fukkin with dude in real life. Dude was a scumbag lowkey and just on some unaffected a$$hole type shyt. Sterling was probably worse pound for pound if we're being real. That's the thing though; you need a Roger sterling and a Pete Campbell to stand next to draper just to hide how much of an a$$hole he is. :pachaha: With Jessica Jones for example, she has no dikkweed supporting charac-- no wait, she has jeryn hogarth, nvm. I was gonna say she had no roger sterling of her own to contrast and use that to justify people calling her unlikeability out so much. never mind :skip:

Kenny Powers was a piece of shyt... but everyone loved him.

One of the main rules I always see about screenwriting is "don't write an unlikable lead" and it bothers the shyt out of me. Why the fukk not? Why do i have to "root" for the main character? it's so dumb. I wrote a pilot about dads who pressure their sons when it comes to sports and had a bunch of people read it, and almost all the complaints were that the lead guy was "pretty unlikable." fukk that noise.
I want to write characters like that. People fail to see to see that these types of characters have some redeeming quality about them but are ultimately unlikable. You meet people like that in real life, why is it a stretch to see it on film?

every time i hear the words "i need someone to root for" i want to punch someone. a good bad guy or anti-hero is fun to root for.

Feels like anti-heroes are way more common than actual heroes in media these days. At least in the shyt that I watch...

Forgot to add Frank Underwood to my list.

1. Plenty of people watched and liked Walter White as a character myself included. Plenty of people like interesting villains.

2. If one finds a character interesting then they aren't unlikable. One doesn't have to be trustworthy to be a likable TV character. One doesn't have to be a good person to be a likable character either. I liked the Joker in the Dark Knight.

I'm gonna address two key things, which I'll number.

1. You liked Walt as a character. He was interesting.

That has NOTHING to do with whether or not he's likable. Jason Voorhees has millions of fans and his defining character trait is slaughtering innocent people. There is literally nothing likable about the character. People like him because his movies are (were) entertaining. That's literally all it takes, are you entertained? If the answer is "yes", then you'll like the character no matter what they're doing.

2.

If you gave a group of talented people "Mein Kampt" they could probably turn it into an interesting, entertaining TV series. Does that mean Hilter is likable? NO. Because the two things have nothing to do with each other.

I was fed up with Walt by the end of season 4 and I was legitimately fukking physically disgusted every time he popped up on screen after the first episode of season five.

early michael scott was hard to handle.

walter white is the bad guy and breaking bad is the villain's story from origin to death.

he was an absolutely terrible person with no redeeming qualities.

-Dexter, micheal c hall just has one of those demonic douchey looking cac faces. Took me till about s2 finale to realize I wasn't the person the show was aimed at

-Sopranos, James gandolfini, never got over his role in true romance plus his face screamed :mjpls: looked like he said n#*$%@ in his fukin sleep.

-Vince Mackey and Jack Bauer, these 2 were racist dirtbags that became heroes to so many smelly racist cacs all over the world that lived vicariously through their actions against brown/black individuals

-Kara thrace, they tried their hardest to sell this chick as some Ripley meets Sarah connor but the actress wasn't up to it. The amount of airtime she got is why I can't rewatch battlestar gallatica ever
