Movies that flopped, but should have been a hit

This shouldn't have flopped it's still a good movie and Robert Deniro puts on another stellar performance playing another disturbed individual.

You're getting confused because the opening scenes of "The Arrival" and "Contact" are similar. Both movies start with scientists working with radio telescopes getting signals from aliens.

I don't like the end of either, but I think Contact would be Oscar contention if it dropped today.

i pretty much enjoy anything that's a reset on human civilization.

Same but I just didn't enjoy Waterworld, I thought it dragged to much and again I found Kevin Costner too unlikable for a protagonist we have to spend 3 hours with. People act like it flopped hard yet it's worldwide gross of 264 million wasn't bad.

But after setting up shop in Hawaii, the film’s budget quickly ballooned to $65 million. Then the shoot stretched on and on, and the costs of post-production rose. The film ended up costing an unheard of $175 million. When all was said and done, though, Waterworld ended up in the black, and it would actually be a minor success today

Waterworld wasnt horrible, it had some decent moments. Dennis Hopper was hot off of Speed and played a less likeable villain here. It was supposed to be the that Big Movie but yeah it fell flat. I haven't watched it in many years.

Cable guy is a good one. Carrey was hot and this flick was just too different so people tuned out. I liked and still do.

I thought the movie was interesting until they showed the creatures. Kind of took me out of it.
