This shouldn't have flopped it's still a good movie and Robert Deniro puts on another stellar performance playing another disturbed individual.

No...That's not Contact, its the same movie. I posted a gif earlier, but here's the video clip:
You're getting confused because the opening scenes of "The Arrival" and "Contact" are similar. Both movies start with scientists working with radio telescopes getting signals from aliens.
Contact (1997) :
The Arrival (1996) :
What'd you like about Waterworld? Dont compare it to mad max either lol, other then it being set in an apocalypse they're nothing alike
"Baseball is fair."
ugh Deniro could be creepy as hell, yet evil, menacing and sad all at once.Same but I just didn't enjoy Waterworld, I thought it dragged to much and again I found Kevin Costner too unlikable for a protagonist we have to spend 3 hours with. People act like it flopped hard yet it's worldwide gross of 264 million wasn't bad.i pretty much enjoy anything that's a reset on human civilization.

But after setting up shop in Hawaii, the film’s budget quickly ballooned to $65 million. Then the shoot stretched on and on, and the costs of post-production rose. The film ended up costing an unheard of $175 million. When all was said and done, though, Waterworld ended up in the black, and it would actually be a minor success today
It also turned a profit when it came to vhsBut after setting up shop in Hawaii, the film’s budget quickly ballooned to $65 million. Waterworld wasnt horrible, it had some decent moments. Dennis Hopper was hot off of Speed and played a less likeable villain here. It was supposed to be the that Big Movie but yeah it fell flat. I haven't watched it in many years.
And yes the cable guy is the shytCable guy is a good one. Carrey was hot and this flick was just too different so people tuned out. I liked and still do.
At least it's not as bad as the postman
Adding to the thread:
Annihilation
I thought the movie was interesting until they showed the creatures. Kind of took me out of it.came to say Annihilation. Great movie.
