jacobs ladder (1992) was considered a disappointment during its theatrical run and its the grandaddy for surrealist, nightmare fuel horror

And I swear im the only person that saw Syriana which was like "what if crash, a most wanted man and season 1 of Jack Ryan had a baby?" Very slept on movie about the geopolitics and ramifications of the Middle East. I don think it was a flop but its damn near forgotten about.

I thought Syrania was a bore. it was kind of a Traffic rip off but not as interesting.

the ether
GATTACA
Lucky Number Slevin
Smokin Aces
Attack the Block
The Serpent and the Rainbow
Adding to the thread:

Annihilation
Big Trouble In Little China
Event Horizon
Shawshank Redemption
The 13th Warrior
The Iron Giant
I was shocked to see that Gattaca and Shawshank Redemption flopped, I consider both of them classics. I showed Gattaca to every bio class I ever taught.

Attack the Block a great little low-budget flick but low budget scifi flicks are never going to do well in the box office cause people looking for great special affects and action scenes (see every Coli thread).

The Lone Ranger.
This. The movie got some harsh criticism, but after watching it, I concluded that was mainly because white american didn't want to be reminded of the terrible genocide it committed. I think if it came out today, it would be judged different. Although they would have to recast Johnny Depp. A white man accused of domestic violence playing a drunk caricature of a native american would just not be possible nowerdays.

Chronicles of riddikk

I wanna say they had to rerate this over.
Sometimes i see it rated four stars.
On hbo it is rated two stars{a lie}
Yet this was like john carter. They hated on it.
before it reached theatres becaise vin diesel produced it on his own.
It flopped originally from poor early critical reviews if i remember right.
Similar to equilibrium. Which were a lie cause i saw equilibrium before it was even finished woth cgi and it was cold..
As it flopped. It got better real word of mouth reviews. Which over turned the original seemed like they were paid off pr critical review sector.
Where it did not have great opening numbers but incredible steady numbers and cult word of mouth fandom. Became what would be the current ideal i would think for riddikk. Well before the last movie ruined the brilliance and franchise potential from chronicles. To abandon the what if conan was a furian[sp] in outerspace ending possible sequels. We never got with the arnold series from the original conan ending as well.

So this thread is great because we can discuss the what if sequels of some of these movies. That arose. Yet have a narrative as well.
