Man what mk11 gave Jax a great backstory he literally has PTSD and he lost his wife and raised Jacqui by himself, his whole arc is coming to terms with everything thats happened to him and letting the last go, that shyt was great now theyre gonna give us Carl Weathers in 90s spandex Jax again smh

Came to post this. Cant believe people were so eager to shyt on this game. Some gripes people presented were fair but most of what Ive seen was just irrational. Games looks better than MK 11 in damn near every regard (though I will say MK11s brooding atmosphere is even with the kind of tone this game exudes).

Slowly starting to come around to the aesthetic of the game. It's something different. Kind of looks like it's a MK game based off of a live action MK movie.
Explain? nikka you supposed to be banned and some corny cameos and upblock is not enough of a change to make it seem "new". MK still making games the old school way (minor changes, new story, call it a day), and won't feel pressured to do more if you nikkas gonna keep throwing money at them.
Honestly even though I'm not buying sf6 but will absolutely buy MK1 (eventually) I hope SF6 gets a way better reception than mk does. They need that same fire lit under their ass that made them produce the goat mk9 and also make a real fukking story, even if you have to borrow rpg elements but this ain't the 90s cutscenes and regular matches isn't what we consider a real "story mode" anymore.

Calm down I didnt neg you. And MK 2011 is vastly overrated. The core gameplay is still solid but everything else aged horribly. Especially the aesthetics. Im embarrassed to play it in front of women. That games presentation is in bad taste. MK X >>> MK11 >>>>>>>>>>>>> MK 2011.
That kinda exemplifies the problem doesn’t it? Not until the character is much older and in the 11th and final iteration of the franchise (before the reboot) before we get a story like that. And then it’s the reset button.
Whereas the mainstream pop culture lore will almost always take place when the characters are in their prime.
Not to mention every MK villain done got their turn to rip his arms off across media lol smh
MK 11s presentation alone shyts on every aspect of MK 2011. Be serious. Only thing MK 2011 got going for itself the nostalgia driven roster. Theres some charm, but not enough to put it over MK 11.

-Game is using Unreal Engine 5.
-Kind of confirms Injustice as next game. Ed said they were trying to switch to a new engine but then Covid hit so we probably wouldn’t have gotten the next MK until 2025 so they decided to do MK instead.
-No Kombat Kids for main roster since they don’t exist yet.
-About 100 characters total including Kameo and main roster.
-They have a new mode in the game they’re going to be announcing.
I think the biggest reason people hated MK11 is that you actually had to play the game. People complained of it being slow, but that was a return to MK1 and MK2. MK3 was when everything was sped up because they added the run feature and the complex "dial- a-combo" system. MK11 had combos, but people wanted these long, lengthy strings and pop ups. MK11 had those too, but it required creativity. The most non-sensical gripe about MK11 was that it was too easy because anyone could pick it up and play it. Who wants to buy a game you can't easily play?
MK2011 was a favorite, but IMO was out classed by MK11. MK11 was less "cartoony" and had felt like an actual throwback to classic MK.
A lot of these gamers don't realize that NRS is that in the business of making money not being featured on tournaments. Shout out to Arc sys.
Funny you mention arc because everytime dude talks about modern GG after xrd you can tell he's gonna keep trying to find ways to simplify and mainstream it. They made big leaps from Xrd to Strive but there was an interview from last year iirc where dude was basically yeah we can go further next time lol
Only thing you left out was the part where Mortal Kombat outsells all those other games combined while Street Fighter nearly flops yet again.every fighting game cycle is like this since the beginning of time
- Streetfighter comes out
- MK comes out not too long after
- Their fanbases fight it out over which is better
- King of fighters comes out later, nobody cares besides superhardcores who pretend its better than it is
- Tekken comes out, its better than expected, fans kind of stay in their own lane, but think its the best as well
- Streetfighter new version comes out [Super, Ultra, Arcade edition], its definitely better than OG
- MK comes out with an incrementally better sequel
- Capcom announces VS game
- Somewhere along this schedule a Smash Bros game comes out
