But, this is about Netflix coming correct.
I watched the first 40 minutes of the Sway interview and I will admit that I now have a better understanding of what her stance is.I have the context of her current beef by hearing her version of the lee daniels, Tyler Perry, and Oprah tapdancing story.
I think she should have gone even further in airing Oprah out by mentioning how many times she had partnered up with Harvey Weinstein despite his reputation for violating women. That golden globes speech Oprah gave was bullshyt.
HOWEVER
Monique needs a better manager and a better publicist. There are ways to craft your struggle in a way that gets the people behind you, and what she's doing is NOT it.
The FREE THE LOX campaign & Prince having "slave" written across his face come to mind as moves that drew public support for the artist raging against the machine.
Her husband/manager has to go ,ASAP. What she's neglecting in her interview is that Schumer is where she is and makes what she makes because of the management team behind her .THEIR leverage is what allows THEM to negotiate against Netflix. In sports, the super agents have and use the same kind of leverage to negotiate against team owners and GMs.
Her husband is moving wrong..all wrong. If a company lowballs your client with an offer and your NEXT move is to threaten to expose that offer to the public..you are in over your head as a manager.
Her point about being the most decorated female comedian ever is wrong. Whoopi Goldberg won an Oscar also ,decades ago and has won all types of awards since then and may have Tony and Emmy nominations. Now, Whoopi tapdances a lot also (Polanski is not RAPE..rape & Mel Gibson is not a racist)
I like Monique's spirit, and respect her intent but she's not relaying her message in the best way. Once you take certain stances, prepare for and expect NOBODY to have your back. Don't address people out there who aren't supporting you or who are criticizing your moves.....that just distracts from your point.
