It just feels like AEW has hit a wall a creatively. Every idea is a call back to the past....it's all just recycling shyt like the nWo, Austin vs McMahon, Summer of Punk, old Jim Crockett and Mid South angles....they can't actually do anything that feels fresh and original. That's the only way they're truly gonna truly move the needle.

If you look at the coaches and producers around Tony now, it’s all WWE (gotta build HEAT) guys and Kenny and Bucks influence are only on their own stories now

What would be fresh though? What could they possibly do that would be new, fresh, exciting, ratings grabbing and lucrative?

This stuff moves in cycles all the time. You can't just write off stuff because you saw it 20-30 years ago.

There’s a difference between doing something that makes sense and within guys character and redoing work shoot bullshyt for a rating. Say if Punk and FTR joined with BCC. Those guys go back years and have similar objectives in AEW overall. The Elite mantra is “Change the world”. It’s easy for Kenny Hangman Bucks and Cole all join together if there’s a threat to the change. That makes sense, and fits within their characters and tell an overarching story. This company is making MJF a face and sympathetic and Tony, the company itself, and those guys that left more money from Vince to help start AEW heels. What?

How the hell is Mark Henry getting paid more than MJF?! All he does is say "it's time for the main event!" Tony Khan needs to cut the check and pay MJF.

I'm pretty sure Mark Henry is a scout/talent evaluator at some level. He's the guy who brought Daniel Bryan, Bianca, Apollo Crews, Happy Corbin & Braun Strowman to the WWE. It wasn't no damn Johnny Ace or Triple H who got them signed. I might be wrong, but I think I remember hearing/reading that he also helped bring Jade Cargill into wrestling too.

Edit - Yeah, Jade Cargill too.

Considering the younger skewing age of AEW, anything that hasn't been repeated before 2000 is probably new to them.

As far as what's next for this MJF stuff, I think we're going to get a runback of a Punk vs. Cena, Austin vs. McMahon, or Montreal Screwjob type situation where Punk takes on the role of Cena/McMahon/HBK. If TK puts himself on TV in a McMahon role it's going to go very poorly, so Punk is going to carry that water since he seems to be TK's guy.

How it ends, well that's going to depend on what MJF decides to do for his next contract between AEW and WWE. If he decides to leave for WWE, can totally see him getting screwed over, which I think would be very bad for the company if MJF is able to save face a bit in the locker room.

The thing that makes me cringe the most about worked shoot promos is when they name drop real names (“This isn’t CM Punk talking to HHH, this is Phil Brooks speaking to Paul Levesque!” Lame) but it was amusing hearing him clarify that it wasn’t Maxwell Jacob Friedman talking, it was…Max Friedman talking. Oh. Okay. :mjlol:

:dwillhuh: DB had been working WWE matches and had a relationship with them for years. Not to mention he was undisputedly the best wrestler on the indies for a good 5-6 years before being signed. Thats all because of ROH that he got signed tbh.
