fukk em, he gets no props after what he said about ST and I ain't even a 'skins fan. Why didn't he take Mariotti's job back in Chicago, I mean he's just as big of a faggit as Jay was. :yeshrug:

No history of a successful basketball team, just got a baseball team again, this is mostly a football town but we ain't trippin like other cities cuz we bout that bread that's the sport of choice here. :stopitslime:

The ironic thing is that you're a fan of The Lakers and Raiders and you're from the area that Wilbon disparages. :heh:

ehh i dotn know..NYC produced tons of bball players but baseballs a religion there so its a baseball town same with DC with the skins

NYC is a bball town as far as the populace goes, but Baseball is clearly the number one sport to follow on a professional level. DMV area produces great basketball products but baseball/football is what dominates that area as far a following goes.

Nobody should even be arguing for why he's wrong.... DC itself isn't much of a sports town... all the real fans live in MoCo and northern VA.

there are cats who've hit up 7th street every friday night for years.. and have never set foot inside the Verizon Center.

Caps were deep in a playoff run, and folks where outside like  "there is a hockey game today?"

They'll only care when G'Town comes back to prominence. ONLY then.

I've seen increasingly how impressed Dan Steinberg is with himself and his non-column. What I wonder is whether he's smart enough to know that when he takes a shot at Earvin Johnson flying to a celebrity roast at Landsdowne Steinberg also is belittling Don Graham's massive charitable crusade to raise millions of dollars for tuition of D.C. High school children. Don Graham, last I checked, is still Steinberg's boss…or does he think it's the other way around? And when Don asked me to co-host that golf tournament to raise those dollars, I was thrilled to do it. If Dan wants to match Earvin's donation to help a D.C. Kid pay college tuition, it would be welcome. Then again, it's fair to wonder about the judgement of someone who would show up looking like a slovenly bum at a memorial service for the late Mr. Abe Pollin. If you're going to wrap yourself in D.C. Sports patriotism, Dan, have the decency to come to a public service honoring the patriarch of D.C. Sports (while representing The Post, no less) in a professional manner. Then again, I'm sure you'll find some excuse for that, too. You and your tag-team partner, Bram Weinstein, seem to think I'm under some obligation to run my opinions past you, like you're my editors…or even qualified to be that. Anytime, anyplace you want to post and compare resumes or career highlights I'm more than happy to engage. Until then, I'll form my own opinions, popular or not, without seeking your permission.

...then this:

Looking at my own Facebook post and tweet from a couple of hours ago I realize I got too angry in my response to what I feel is a personal attack on me…and absolutely went too far in criticizing Dan Steinberg for what I thought was inappropriate appearance at a memorial service for Abe Pollin. I should never, ever address another person's appearance and apologize to Dan and anyone else who might object to my characterization for doing so. Even in a public dispute, which I won't have any further part in, that characterization went too far…

While Wilbon's full of shyt here, Steinberg's response in the WaPo didn't come well either. He sounded bitter and kinda jealous of Wilbon.

first off, lmao@wilbon insulting someone's appearance when he looks like the chicago cubs alternate logo in a cheap jacket

second, abe pollin, the patriarch of dc sports :heh: why, because he had 3-4 great teams in the 70s? if anyone's the patriarch, it's jack kent cooke, and he was hated if not respected.

he honestly deserves the

Abe did build that arena, and gave money to charities to compensate for the shyt teams he put out every year.

DC really doesnt have a patriarch of sports or whatever BS term he chose to create.

and Steinberg is wrong and seems like a new resident to this area type, Georgetown bball>>The Capitals. If UMD/GTown ever played again in basketball, it would be the biggest non-Redskins story in this town, barring any other team winning a title.

he was on that early too. He is probably why Snyder hates WaPo.

but yeah, Georgetown and UMD bball>>>The Caps, its the truth :yeshrug:

shoot, there was a time when I was a kid when DeMatha vs. Gonzaga match ups was bigger than The Caps, so was the City Title game. I remember when the City Title Game used to be shown on TV every year. Gonzaga vs. DeMatha used to be shown on TV too.

yeah, the caps are really no big deal to non hockey players. i enjoy them, but i'm not heartbroken when they lose. i probably would choose a city title game over a caps game, just because you're likely to see future ncaa/nba stars at the former.

altho when the caps were runnin n gunnin a few years back, that was fun.

yeah, its not a diss of the Capitals, but he doesnt know DC that well if he thinks they are bigger than GTown basketball. Wilbon is actually right there.

The Caps were fun to watch in the 90s with Bondra, Adam Oates, Olaf Kolzig and that crew. I used to like Adam Oates because he reminded me of Adam Banks from Mighty Ducks. It was probably only down to their names being Adam and being the best players on their team.
