I seriously think your underestimating Mike's capability for a national platform. He does his research. Over the past few years for example hes did less NBA but when he'd have Ira Winderman he'd show his level of knowledge and research. Most of these national guys are only interested in hot takes and have a surface level knowlege of sports. Mike can sweep the floor with most of them.

I think when he does research you’re right but the last year or so at the wfan he seemed to be mailing it in and did less and less work.

The bigger part is I don’t think he wants to do anything nationally. The article makes it seem pretty clear he wants to do something local. He knows that’s where his fan base lies

Sure his name is national because of Twitter and his videos going viral but if he were to do a pay service or podcast 99 percent of the people who would pay/follow him would be his nyc area audience

Lol @ the ego on this clown, you're going back because you couldn't figure out how to do anything else

Mike Francesa: 'It is time to return to WFAN'

Saying “it is time to return to WFAN,” Mike Francesa said early Tuesday morning that he has been working on a project with the agency CAA and that he intends to include working at WFAN in some form.

Francesa also alluded cryptically to a “campaign” to keep him from returning to the station that he left in December.

Francesa declined to answer followup questions about that or any other aspect of what he said, which was, “I have been working on a project with CAA for months. That will be explained in the days ahead.

“This is for those who started this campaign in recent days. I didn’t decide to go back to WFAN until I was told I better not go back. For those behind it, that was the moment I decided to return."

“I will do everything to work WFAN into an integral part of the project. It is time to return to WFAN.”

Francesa’s last show was Dec. 15. He was succeeded as of Jan. 2 by Chris Carlin, Maggie Gray and Bart Scott in afternoon drive time.

He has been free to sign elsewhere since April 1 and has been working with CAA on what comes next. Apparently that “next” is at hand, the specifics of it not yet clear.

Dude is going back to wfan out of spite :mjlol:

Francesa said Bob Cousy was a better ball handler than Steph and Kyrie, fall back with the praise for his "knowledge", dude is a bozo. The fact that he had Ira Winderman on to discuss NBA when the Miami market isn't even checking for him just shows how out of the loop and dusty Francesa is. Francesa has his niche in the tri-state and with tri-state transplants but nationally nobody is checking for him, that's why he's trying to go back to square one.

I was just coming in to post this. We all know Mike is the sports pope and pulls in ratings but he’s an a$$hole to everyone around him. How the fukk you work at a radio station and have beef with damn near all the other hosts? Imagine how the Christmas party was with him there:pachaha:

The brass at WFAN know he’s an earner but he’s such a dikk to people there they really don’t wanna fukk with him. But money talks and Mike brings in ratings and advertisement revenue. At the end of the day that’s all that should matter. My prediction is he’ll be back.

The thing is though what time slot can he return?

As much as it would help ratings and everyone would love to see it they’res no way ethically you can remove the new show that quickly and bring Mike back in his old spot that would look awful for everyone involved.

Maybe they pair him with Evan and Beningo retires. Didn't he get his hip replaced or something recently? He's in bad physical shape

Callers would revolt. If Joe goes out (which is probably no more than 2 years from now, tops) let him go out on his own terms. At least you know he’d have no desire to come back other than calling the station to vent.

That lineup they have is rock solid other than CMB :smh:

Most of their personalities are old as dirt though

I literally CANNOT listen to the sound of Richard Neer's voice. How the fukk has his boring, stale, yankee/basketball hatin ass been on the radio this long? He is AWFUL.

It really shows you that anybody can do this sports radio shyt with the right connect.

They need to give Robin Lundberg a full-time gig.
