The I in Team
I think the problem is Mike is an a$$hole to business people so he’s not getting the offers that his ego told him he would get. I mean shyt he burned bridges on both tv and radio. Plus most of guys who worked with him previously can’t stand him. I know him and Dog on better terms now, but they went a long stretch without talking to each other. He’s like that superstar football player that’s such an a$$hole that teams don’t pick him up because of the headache. Regardless he’s good for ratings and somebody will pick him up. It would be a good laugh if he came back to the fan tho.

Yeah Mike has burned so many bridges lol

Sounds like he’d go to espn radio but they don’t want him because of how he destroyed espn all the time but I can’t blame him for that they tried to screw him but putting the embargo on espn guys going on his show

I think a good compromise for all parties is:

Joe and Evan go back to 10-1

Mike goes back to WFAN, goes from 1-3(I think Mike was tired of working the 5 hour shift solo, no one on radio really does that anymore)

If they want to continue with the afternoon show(god knows why, it's awful), have them go from 3-6

I think Mike was just burned out with the fan and felt like he would get people going crazy to get him. Not happening in 2018. The landscape has changed drastically and he basically sabotaged the #1 spot because of his ego.

I think he would do well on the Ringer network with Bill Simmons, but Simmons can't give out that kinda cash to one person.

He said he doesn't want to do it everyday anymore. All signs were pointing to a podcast.

Ehh, that might be negotiation. If they cut him a big enough check he'd probably still be there today.

If they gave him a nice check with a reduced schedule(M-F during the spring-winter, maybe he takes all summer off to be in Saratoga) I think that's something he would do

Mike can't do shyt with 2 hours. He'd just interview his usual guests, do his monologue and never take a call.

I don’t get why Mike can’t just do his own podcast on his own terms when he wants to being his own boss

He could do that but it's not really his lane.

He'll give a monologue and he can have people send in questions that he'll answer after the fact, but the live interaction with callers on hot button topics happening then and there is his allure. I think that's why he might want back in on radio.

I agree with you actually I never thought he’d fit in the podcast world. Callers drive his show Mike is great off the cuff outside of his monologues. He’s perfect for nyc radio and nothing else really.

I guess he just found this out himself but with his ego I can’t see him going back to wfan

They'd give him the Schmoozer schedule out of spite initially.

Lol @ the ego on this clown, you're going back because you couldn't figure out how to do anything else

Mike Francesa: 'It is time to return to WFAN'

Saying “it is time to return to WFAN,” Mike Francesa said early Tuesday morning that he has been working on a project with the agency CAA and that he intends to include working at WFAN in some form.

Francesa also alluded cryptically to a “campaign” to keep him from returning to the station that he left in December.

Francesa declined to answer followup questions about that or any other aspect of what he said, which was, “I have been working on a project with CAA for months. That will be explained in the days ahead.

“This is for those who started this campaign in recent days. I didn’t decide to go back to WFAN until I was told I better not go back. For those behind it, that was the moment I decided to return."

“I will do everything to work WFAN into an integral part of the project. It is time to return to WFAN.”

Francesa’s last show was Dec. 15. He was succeeded as of Jan. 2 by Chris Carlin, Maggie Gray and Bart Scott in afternoon drive time.

He has been free to sign elsewhere since April 1 and has been working with CAA on what comes next. Apparently that “next” is at hand, the specifics of it not yet clear.

I seriously think your underestimating Mike's capability for a national platform. He does his research. Over the past few years for example hes did less NBA but when he'd have Ira Winderman he'd show his level of knowledge and research. Most of these national guys are only interested in hot takes and have a surface level knowlege of sports. Mike can sweep the floor with most of them.
