what's happening there?
A bunch of white people with blue hair highlights and septum rings are getting emotional about a bunch of video game companies that they care entirely too much about because they are absent the love and respect of other human beings.

Basically what's always happening there. I don't have to look at the site to tell that.

I think there's a niche for them with subscription games, but it'll be a loss-leader that they package with the subscription services they want to push that actually make them money.

They should get out of hardware, though. I love the OG Xbox and the 360, but those are by far the best hardware successes they've had, and no other current console producer would consider either of them a success on their terms.

Yeah, essentially the same thing amazon does wiht prime/prime music/prime video

Or what netflix is doing with gaming

This is one of those, "Until you work in a office, you don't understand." deals for Gamers.

Anytime a big purchase happens, there is going to be re-organization... 'fat' will be trimmed... teams will be lost, and new teams will expected to fill the void; with some of them not even familiar with what they need to do, and the people they need to talk to are gone.

Shareholders need to feel confident that this move will synergize and all the fancy shyt to keep them invested, else the stock drops.

For these young folks, who thought their jobs were safe after this, this a sudden wakeup call to show how expendable you are.

The only good thing I can say, was that this wasn't a... "Come to the Auditorium for a Special 15minute Musical Chairs" edition in which you see HR, and they point to a door telling you, "When I call your name, go through that door and we will escort you off campus as we are terminating your employment now." as that shyt is fukking awkward and stressful.
My current employer is a smaller supply chain company but is private. I love it here because I'm not a number working for a huge or bigger corporation as I did in the past. No shareholders to adhere to and I can walk in the company owner's office anytime I feel like it. Only 2 levels below him.

I'll never work for a large corporation again. Rather do a smaller joint with lesser corporate overhead/bs to deal with.

A corporations first and really only priority is satisfying their shareholders. That is it. Don't believe all these goody bullshyt stories and PR they tell. Especially American Corporations. Everything in our country is about a dollar, damn how you get it.

Working corporate for most of life and everybody is just a number. I've seen it all where they'll legit on the same die let go of a whole department, tap on shoulder after a meeting that they're getting laid off, letting go of people after a leave, managers that were bootlickers getting sacked when performance wasn't as high as it should be. The corporate world is cold and heartless
