You mean a large company bulshytted their way into getting what they wanted, and then immediately reneged on that shyt? That's wild. :ohhh:

Anyone defending this unhinged :picard:

Yeah, anyone defending or celebrating this is fukked up. Anyone with even a little bit of business sense could tell you that this was always how this was going to go. There is ALWAYS a reduction in headcount when companies merge, even more so when it's large entities merging. At minimum, there was going to be a bloodbath in departments like HR, or publishing, or payroll, or finance, or legal, or whatever because there's only so many people you need within an organization to do the same job, when it's not a revenue generating role.

What's extra shytty about this is that they're using this as cover to get rid of a lot of people for non merger related reasons. Mike Ybarra didn't need to go. They didn't need to cancel an entire game, and clap up the entire team working on it. Random community managers for games that they actively make content for, and tout player engagement for didn't need to get got. This is the corporate world doing what it does, unfortunately. It just really sucks to see a brand that has some incredibly dedicated people working for it return that dedication in kind by telling a large chunk of those people to get the fukk out right after a period of blowing crazy money meant to improve said brand. :francis:

Yep, i think people are just showing out because we have been saying this for 2 1/2 years now, the bigger microsoft gets the more severe These little cuts are going to be, especially with them investing so heavily into AI.

It’s like we were being gaslit about consolidation for so long and told “Microsoft is doing this to protect developers” and all types of other obvious lies when the truth is nikkas just wanted COD on gamepass. Same discussion is going on at resetera and they are banning people for saying what i just said above

This is one of those, "Until you work in a office, you don't understand." deals for Gamers.

Anytime a big purchase happens, there is going to be re-organization... 'fat' will be trimmed... teams will be lost, and new teams will expected to fill the void; with some of them not even familiar with what they need to do, and the people they need to talk to are gone.

Shareholders need to feel confident that this move will synergize and all the fancy shyt to keep them invested, else the stock drops.

For these young folks, who thought their jobs were safe after this, this a sudden wakeup call to show how expendable you are.

The only good thing I can say, was that this wasn't a... "Come to the Auditorium for a Special 15minute Musical Chairs" edition in which you see HR, and they point to a door telling you, "When I call your name, go through that door and we will escort you off campus as we are terminating your employment now." as that shyt is fukking awkward and stressful.

I would think common sense would tell you getting absorbed into an even larger entity (by 100x’s) would make you even more expendable, but here we are

I am sure most would understand, and would start prepping their resumes/looking for new jobs/social network friends for openings.

However though I am sure there are a few who would have thought that maybe their 'group' or 'team' was secure and untouchable.

Still its a shytty feeling no matter what.

Yeah, but if we're being honest, you running in here to bait Mad Titty into a tantrum really isn't much better.

True, but I think shyt being so slapdash that people are hitting up media members because there's a decent chance they might know more about their job safety than they do might be worse.

Stock at 400 dollars per share tho.

I should’ve bought more when it was 320, :francis:
Yeah M$ is always fine. Xbox is just some shyt they do for fun.

Aren't they valued at like $1 or $2 trillion? They got the money but can't find the right gaming division leadership.

I think there's a niche for them with subscription games, but it'll be a loss-leader that they package with the subscription services they want to push that actually make them money.

They should get out of hardware, though. I love the OG Xbox and the 360, but those are by far the best hardware successes they've had, and no other current console producer would consider either of them a success on their terms.
