Its very much true, we are literally going back and forth talking about xbox sony and microsoft because of Xbox. MS is a common household name because of xbox and the more things that game pass are on it becomes even more common. In fact if you ask people what's the 1st thing they think about when you say MS they'll probably say computers and xbox.
I HIGHLY doubt that.

You're an elite level stan so YOU think about Xbox but to the average person they'll probably think about Windows.

The everyday consumer doesn’t even really use windows anymore.

Lots of tech companies making lots of money and the general masses don’t know/care

Microsoft’s biggest business is the cloud, but if you asked a random person they’d have no idea.

Microsoft’s entire goal with xbox was to become a household name.

Only recently to they seemingly pivot to trying to make xbox a business of its own.

People associate MS with computers, they not thing about a OS, just like with apple people gonna say iphones not mac's.
The closest thing to MS having anything thats mainstream popular to everyday folks is Xbox.
List would probably be Computers (which really includes everything from office to windows), Word and Xbox.

No it's not. If we're going to keep it a buck, Microsoft's name recognition is what got Xbox off the ground. And Microsoft largely had that recognition because Bill Gates was a rock star. He was the one going around hyping it up. It's how it was pushed in Japan when it launched. I know we all stan for our favored thing, but keep it real. You're giving Xbox was more credit than it deserves. Yes it has added to the name recognition, but let's not act that Microsoft would be some obscure company that just made operating systems and office suites if it wasn't for the Xbox.

They don’t. People don’t use PCs anymore.

Unless it has something to do with work or gaming people aren’t using PCs all like that anymore.

They use phones and tablets to surf the web, social media, youtube, netflix, etc.

You can argue both sides of the PC Decline argument. shyt, even this article talking about how sales have decline recently is forecasting sales to balance back if/when inflation gets reeled in.

Decline in PC and tablet shipments will continue through 2023, says IDC | Computerworld

Not to mention that the XBox, which many an average consumer uses, has always used Windows NT as a base for its OS.

So what are they using? Linux? Chrome? Mac? Even on Mac you're going to be using Microsoft Office.:gucci:

That's the frustrating thing about arguing with some of these brehs. They'll take a reasonable argument, like "XBox is an important part of modern day Microsoft", and stretch it to say some shyt like XBox is the only reason people know of Microst.

Acting like the XBox wasn't low key getting laughed at when Bill Gates was telling people he was serious about getting into gaming. :dead:

Acting like it wasn't originally called DirectX Box because the original goal was to prove the effectiveness of Direct X. :dead:

Acting like the Windows XP default background isn't instantly recognizable to this day. :dead:
Acting like if Microsoft were somehow forced to choose between the two, XBox wouldn't get bushed for the Office division. :dead:

You said this in the other thread. I thoroughly proved you wrong with links, numbers, and public statements then you ran away. Just like in here.

It’s no secret PC sales and home use have been declining over the last decade or so.

Home PCs are just not being used that much anymore.

Windows is known and used in business settings. Most people at home 1 don’t care about a damn OS and 2 don’t use a PC for all the things they can do with their phone/tablet/smart tv/console.

Smh, of course the reason xbox got attention initially is because it was a MS product. :comeon:
Bill gates only even signed off on xbox because of sony moving into the home space heavily, and xbox was their answer to that.
Yall really read what yall want, act like we would be in here even debating MS or sony if not for the xbox and playstation.
Notice how "console wars" are a very different thing for "Tech wars" in generally.
How many Iphone vs android or Windows vs MAC forums and threads do you frequent?
