If he’s asking permission to talk to sega and doesn’t even know if he will be granted that permission, (which he ultimately wasn’t) then why would he get up in an interview and set the expectation that they were currently negotiating a deal?
He actually would have been lying had he confirmed the reports that “Microsoft was in active talks with multiple japanese developers” because they were not.
They had a list of like 20 devs they were considering. Does that mean they were in active talks with 20 devs for an acquisition?

Oversight is fine. It’s hard to see how this merger upturns the status quo. Last go round Sony sold like 114 or so million PlayStation consoles and Microsoft sold 58 million. Activision would have to double Microsoft’s sales and half Sony’s to reach the level of imbalance that exist.So because it’s “videogames” there should be no oversight
