@Planktton @K.O.N.Y what's the original thread on rap in the 70s? Interested to read up more. Dope insights from both of you :salute:

Salute.

:salute:

This is the Docu that came out in 2011 put together by Ralph McDaniels about late 60's/70's Hip Hop. The real "microphone check" before microphone check.

Very informative. Take some time out to watch the whole thing.

In this docu there is literally no stressing of what ethnicity created anything because DJ King Charles ( who is Jamaican) is acknowledged as one of the pioneers and he was late 60's before Kool Herc. There is no diaspora war bullshyt in this docu because that's not Hip Hop culture, that's a Coli thing that has nothing to do with Hip Hop.

Mind you, the Founding Fathers docu dropped 7 years before Tariq Nasheed made those Tweets which confirms Tariq was saying Kool Herc started Hip Hop 7 years AFTER this docu was made. Which is why I'm looking sideways at these non hip hop knowing cats on this site who have Tariq as their go to for actual Hip Hop history. .

This is why Microphone check is needed, this is directly from the Rock The Bells website:

Lexicographer Jesse Sheidlower worked as an editor at Random House Dictionary and the Oxford English Dictionary, focusing on new words and slang born of the underrepresented. He states that popular slang comes from a place of oppression. As a result, Hip-Hop — which is uniquely an immigrant’s story when it was started by Jamaican-born DJ Kool Herc in 1973 — has a 47-year history of moving the cultural needle.

Every since The Coli has been on this diaspora war tip which didn't exist on this site in the 2010's, whenever a poster sees that a good point has been made involving Black culture, by someone they don't like, they ask "What's your familys background/Where's your family from" looking for an "Aaa haa!" moment if the answer isn't "My family is ADOS/FBA."

But I'm going to answer your weird question.

According to Tariq Nasheeds FBA website both of my parents are FBA.

Now that we got that out of the way, is there anything you would like to elaborate on concerning the actual topic of this thread?

nikka, upgrade your software

It’s not 2010 anymore, and Tariq admitted that he thought hip hop was a Jamaican creation until he learned more about it lol

You post old ass tweets and tariq ain’t know shyt at the time. You don’t think people upgrade and learn new info.

We all thought at first it was herc and it wasn’t at ALL

Plus, my perception of you is that you’re either blind about the erasure of our people. Since you’re Black American

That melting pot theory is wrong, you have a system that is willing to edge out the creators like how jazz was done and rock-n-roll

My mother was outside and she never seen any ricans in these parties. And what makes it worst is that hip hop was going on in Queensbridge, 40 p’s, Jamaican, queens and Brooklyn.

the truth is that our culture of hip hop was existing before 1973.

You’re team everyone can come and take out shyt and let them claim it.

I’m not, I’m protecting this shyt, nikkas died for this shyt and never got flowers until now.

I got honor for those who were purposely erased and ignored because they put money into showing clips of fukking wild style and spoon fed commercialism from the 80s

Like there was life before that shyt

I take it personal, and I’m from NY and my family was at them parties nikka

No "we" didn't. "You" and "Tariq" doesn't equal "me."

My dude....THERE IS NO EXCUSE. I just posted a docu about Hip Hops origin that dropped in 2011. Cholly Rock elaborated on the docu in 2014

Cholly Rock is in Tariqs docu but the fact that Tariq was still saying Herc created Hip Hop in 2018 means Tariq wasnt paying attention to Cholly Rock prior when the info was out there.

WHY THE fukk ARE YOU DEFENDING TARIQS LACK OF KNOWLEDGE WHEN THE INFO WAS OUT THERE? NO EXCUSES.

That whole Youtube channel is dedicated to the origins of Hip Hop. Got interviews from all types of 70's heads. Tariq didn't give 2 fukks about any of this until after his personal diaspora war. That's very suspect. But you cant see it even tho I can and you are over here questioning why I'm not blind like you are. HOW THE fukk ARE U CLAIMING TO PROTECT HIP HOP WHEN A NIKKA WHO JUST STARTED PAYING ATTENTION TO THE ACTUAL HISTORY A FEW YEARS AGO IS MIXING HIS PERSONAL DIASPORA WAR IN A CULTURE WHERE DIASPORA WARS DON'T EXIST AND YOU DEFENDING IT???
.
:snoop:

Jesus Christ, you don't know hip hop culture at all.

YOU ARE DEFENDING TARIQS CAUSE, YOU ARENT DEFENDING HIP HOP.

@Plankton you want me to purchase you a copy of Microphone Check?

Be a good brother and buy a copy of Microphone Check for @Plankton because he was caught bootlegging the movie in the theater. Also give the brother a roll of quarters and bottle of Tide so he can wash his musty clothes:

A Tether was caught trying to bootleg. Was probably one of @Billy Ocean migrant homies:

Dude has a big musty stain on his shirt, next to the nike logo :scust:

Ignore me saying in post #54 that both of my parents are FBA to make a corny weak attempt at racist joke about me being West Indian/African.

:mjlol:

But hold up....You being a dumbass doesn't stop there...

Everyone has watched me shyt on Billy Ocean since his exposal but now all of a sudden he's my homie. What a dumbass.
:laff:

You know they mad when they aren't talking about the topic but instead talking about you when you aren't the topic.

I seen that doc years ago, 👍🏾

Your chief complaint is about tariq, I get it now!

Now we know what it is

You don’t care about the truth

You care about people not paying attention to Tariq ✅

Plus that whole disco/ hip hop thing was discussed in Tariq’s movie but of course you’re not gonna watch it because you hate Tariq

So my coli people, this guy post responses, just keep clowning him because he’s gonna whine about how Tariq is the problem lol

SMH.

1) You haven't played attention to anything I said at all. I just told you Cholly Rock is in Tariqs docu. You literally just quoted it. Now how would I know that if I didn't see the docu?

:stopitslime:

2) I said it over and over again, I fux with Tariq, I'm just not fukking with him mixing his personal diaspora war with hip hop. You saying I "hate" him exposes you aren't paying attention to anything I have said. Tariq is dope with the docu making. But I can disagree with Tariq when he is dead wrong. Diaspora Wars aren't a thing in hip hop. That's why I said you don't know hip hop because you are defending a diaspora war in hip hop. That's something Tariq just recently started 2 years ago because he just started learning the history and those who don't know the history ( like yourself and many others in this thread ) are co signing him even tho there is no diaspora war in hip hop. Then you have the nerve to say I don't care about the truth. SMH.
