I think he defines ‘star power’ by commercial dominance.. for this era I guess he sees Adele and Taylor Swift as bigger stars compared to Beyonce because they sold more..

I see everyone getting up n arms about his comment I guess I took it differently. I didn't take it as him saying Beyonce on the same level of MJ or better. I took it as him saying MJ kicked down the door and showed the level of stardom. Beyonce took the opportunity of what MJ did and kick down more doors(hence him saying evolution).

He's merely pointing out the fact, When MJ was at the peak of his career Beyonce was 9 years old, Coachella wasn't even a thing back then, Beyonce has been famous since she was a teenager, and she's doing coachella which are kids far younger than her own age group and probably never heard of her destiny child albums, he's saying she's an evolution of MJ because of her longevity which has spanned generations, and he's right, MJ was popular with people's grandparents and their grand kids, he's career started in the 60s and peaked in the 90s, Beyonce is approaching nearly 30 years of revelance just like MJ
