what's hard to understand? if he simply used the presidency as a platform to push a "black" agenda, it makes his presidency meaningless. why should he feel obligated to focus on black people. why do we need to segregate ourselves from the rest of the population? why can't we look at his current achievements (lilly ledbetter act, fighting for hikes in minimum wage, providing assistance to homeowners who suffered from the housing crisis, etc.) that help ALL americans (not just blacks) as something to applaud? why do black "intellectuals" want him to focus on black people? it makes us look petty and insignificant.

i'm glad he's not acting like black people's issues come first. i'm tired of being treated like i'm handicapped and need special assistance.

what makes obama a war criminal? he became president during a war. he can't simply withdraw all of our troops immediately from iraq and afganistan. it isn't practical and it isn't his job. but, beyond that, he has significantly drawn down our troop presence in iraq and he's shifted from troop involvement in afghanistan to the use of drones. you can argue that drones are inhumane, but their use has contributed to a significant decline in the deaths of american troops.

as for being a huge tool for wall street, i don't buy that argument, either. every president in america works on behalf of corporations and wall street. we're a capitalist society, and wall street - which is home to many of the corporations in our economy - is what drives prosperity in america. it doesn't make sense to unilaterally attack wall street instead of working with them.

so, no, obama is not a war criminal. and he is no more a tool of wall street than any other president that would be in the white house.

that's false. if blacks are americans and we enjoy the benefits of certain legislative achievements like any other american, then, an argument can be made that obama DOES give a shyt. he's the most productive president in history, when you look at his record. and that's regarding legislation that helps americans.

Honestly I feel many of the personal attacks and vendetta assaults coming from blacks that feel "betrayed" by Obama feel the same way that West does. They feel there was a sense of "you owe me" since you are black and you became president and you need to tend to me to prove you care about blacks.

I never expected accommodations and "favors" or what have you as a black person from him becoming president and always looked at his presidency more as a symbolic approach.

But yeah anyway Cornel West does seem like he caught feelings not being so adamantly close to the president as he had hoped to be.

He doesnt owe blacks cause he is black. He owes blacks cause we gave him 99% of their vote and helped him get elected. Thats what politics in this country is about.
