That's probably the most underrated aspect of the altercation that young cats made, especially considering that they were in state of panic. Heck even trying to drive to the hospital, would have yielded a potential narrative of them dumping off a "weapon" somewhere en route, because why else would some middle age overweight "redneck" man feel threaten enough for his life by the presence of a group of young teenagers of color...

Very underrated...those kids probably reacted off instinct, they know not to leave the scene of a crime or you will look guilty.

Its leaves little room for legal maneuvering by the defense. Now they have to win the case on its merits.

This is the case in a nut shell.

1. Inebriated guy starts a fight.
2. The black teens leave because he is white AND the law is on his side.
3. He still shoots at the teens because when you are inebriated you make bad decisions.

This garbage Stand Your Ground law really has to address the fact "the guy how starts shiit" will be held accountable if they end up having to kill someone. The use of deadly force can not be considered "justified" in this scenario.
