HE DIDN'T SEEM VERY INTIMIDATING FOR MOST OF THE MOVIE. HE CAME OFF LIKE AN ANGST FILLED BRAT MORE THAN ANYTHING. EVERYTHING ELSE WAS PRETTY GOOD. THE shyt TALKING HE DID IN MUSEUM WAS BELIEVABLE TO ME.

That's what he was for me : a traumatized kid who built up this "mean" character to take revenge at life but really isn't like that. It's a role Killmonger created for himself (hence renaming himself "Killmonger") in order to survive and not succomb to the sadness of the loss of his father and the loss of his connection to Wakanda, but he really isn't built like that.

That's why his character works as long as it's the build-up to going to Wakanda. He's still in the Western world in a position of minority, so his role as the angry killer against the world works, particularly the scene in the museum. Once he gets to Wakanda, he's out of his element. Like they say at the end, "You're not fit to be a king", and it shows. So I think this was well portrayed by MJB's acting, and made the character more believable tbh.

I was on the fence when i saw Chronicle.
Fant4stic had a lot of problems besides him so leave that off. Never got a chance to see Creed.
I though he was brilliant as Killmonger tbh. The first time he had really impressed me. People tell me its the script and direction but i can't believe that. He must at least be credited as very intelligent to carry the weight and instructions of the director(although they are both very familiar with each other by now so it would make sense, I guess we'll have to wait for his next movie with a different director to be sure) and writer so well if he cant rely on his natural acting skills. I do hear people complain about his performance aside from OP to be fair but i dont get it.
A lot of people had problems with ''AMMA BURN IT ALL....." but i didnt think it was too over the top. I thought he and the entire cast knocked it out of the park.
Maybe a year from now ill start seeing what you guys are saying but i just dont get it right now.

No. Because he comes across like that in literally every movie.

I think the intent was to be a ruthless villain. He just can't pull it off. Sorry

I never said he was a bad actor. I said he doesn't convince me when he acts tough.

You really finna tell me this convinced you? :comeon:

Kinda see your point.:patrice:
Guess he just don't got that anger in him.
All his roles/scenes where he just playing a regular guy or a hero he does a good job tho.

In Creed he comes from a safe rich environment, so he's not gonna be the most ruthless breh. In Fruitvalle station he comes from a stable loving environment and basically looks like a good kid who had some bad turns, wrong place wrong time. So basically it looks like he's always playing this role of a nice guy who wants to be angry, but doesn't fully have that anger in him. Don't know...but personnaly I don't think the idea was to have a ruthless villain. Kilmonger's character is more complex than that, which is why the T'Challa-Killmonger dynamic is interesting.

Just remembered he played in Chronicle too, I liked the movie but don't really remember his acting tbh.

I agree. I wonder if him not being a real actor affects him getting roles. I remember him saying he randomly got into moonlight because one of the ppl who were casting saw him at the gym lifting weights

He's starting to get a few. But, he would have been a pretty convincing Killmonger.

Michael B. Jordan just didn't come off as a believable when he was talking about racking up kills all over the planet.

I feel that MBJ basically plays himself in every movie. It's a questionable style choice but it hasn't failed him yet.

In BP for the first 15 seconds he spoke I was :shaq2::beli::comeon: cause I couldn't believe he was exactly the same. Again.

But it worked. It fit. Once the whole thing was laid out it made sense. It was witty as Hell in spots.

Everything I've seen him in he does a good job.

So it's hard to even call it a critique since it seems to work.

I still feel a certain way about it.
I always said he plays a little too much of himself in all of his characters. I'm still just not sold as him being in that next clan of great black actors like I am with Chadwick and Lupita. But he is on the up and coming in name recognition,

And he isn't terrible or anything, I thought he was decent in the Wire, FF4, and Creed, but I also think the character kill monger sold itself and could've been played by someone more convincing. A younger Idris Elba would have killed that role IMO
