i'm surprised y'all are not chopping up this strategic move, not even in the other thread dedicated to the 5 yr deal.

time of the year for the FO around the league to earn their keep (paychecks).

601 Biscayne Blvd (AAA) must be buzzing with energy today.

i can't wait to see whether or not #3 opts out and tests the marketplace. stay tuned.

Goran Dragic opts out with Heat

From the moment they traded for him, the Heat expected to re-sign Goran Dragic.

Dragic stated and restated a hope to stay in Miami.

But this was always going to be the first step.

Whether it’s $80 million over five years, the projected max of $109 million he could get re-signing with Miami or the projected max of $81 million he could get elsewhere, Dragic will make more than his $7.5 million player option next season. Plus, he’ll secure a long-term deal, which should be important to the 29-year-old.

The Heat face a challenging summer. Dwyane Wade isn’t making it easy on them, and Luol Deng can opt out, too. Miami must also leave room in 2016 to re-sign Hassan Whiteside. And the Heat probably want to limit their luxury-tax bill this season.

It’s a narrow rope to to walk.

The Heat surely wanted to keep Dragic – as they shouldbut by opting out, he puts pressure on them. Of course, they knew this was coming.

I mean at his price tag is Lou worth it? He doesn't really create any offense for us and that's the biggest issue right now.

He plays defense and can hit 3's. For 10 mil that's not bad. We won't need to him score anyway, when Dragic; Bosh, and Wade will be there. Hopefully he's our 5th option next year, as Whiteside needs to get touches.

Deng was a little too inconsistent for my liking offensively but pound for pound he's as good a SF you can ask for outside of the star realm. I want to see that 5 of Dragic/Wade/Deng/Bosh/Whiteside on the court together to see just how good they are. A stanley johnson type rookie can still come off the bench and be productive.

Spo had him doing stuff that's not his strengths...and he still was our best 3 point shooter :francis: hopefully if they all come back the offense will run faster and smoother.
