In some companies it manifested into more employee resource groups that helped highlight more traditionally marginalized groups. I helped on a Black board at a previous company. We had an executive sponsor. I think at BEST it helped to protect people that worked there already and help navigate the politics at work, helped identify charitable causes that aligned with specific goals for our group, but did it ultimately help Black people get in the door more or make more? Doubtful. A culture of diversity and equity has to be already ingrained in the psychology and ethos of the company first. Some were just doing to save face.Bruh the DEI shyt is bullshyt at tech companies anyway. It's just an excuse to force companies to interview people they have no intentions of hiring. And now companies create fake jobs just to waste people of color's time doing interviews and assessments for a position that doesn't exist so their interview stats look "diverse."
Maybe DEI is different in different industries but I don't see it helping at least black folks in the world of tech especially at mid and small companies.
