If they gave him 15 that means it wasn't retired.

Jokic got the ring. 15 is his.
It wasn't retired because you don't retire an active player's number. It could've been removed from circulation. Nobody wore/wears 21 in Minnesota.

He got the ring 7 years later. It shouldn't have been available.

This is what he asked for choosing money over competing.

why should anyone look at you as an all time great when this is what you did instead of trying to win titles?

For all the flack we give players for ring chasing....we aint got nothing for cats who took the money over chances to win

100%. He left the team high & dry when he forced his way out, instead of waiting until free agency that year. He deserves NOTHING. He’s delusional as fukk, talking about his “accomplishments” (LOL). Nikka, get the fukk outta here. So a couple of playoff appearances and 1 WCF is supposed to be a legendary career with one team now?? Jokic has accomplished more than Melo, even before the NBA Finals win last year. Melo is just a good scorer at the end of the day, who’ll be remembered as a “good” player, and maybe get a pity HOF. His career is was not memorable, nor noteworthy.

thing is the honor clearly didnt mean anything to him at the time he wanted out. he did play more games and minutes in denver than recent nuggets who had their numbers retired in fat lever and dikembe mutombo. however they had to wait a long time to get their numbers retired, they were better players imo, and left on better terms with the franchise. he has a case to get his number retired, but melo isnt top 2 in denver history in any stat.

He said nothing about AI, becuase of course AI was gone when they went to the WCF and had their best season. He was so upset about the business of basketball and direction and them losing Dante Jones that he made the Knicks gut their squad when he coulda signed with them that summer? :comeon:
He’s hinted being upset about them moving A.I plenty of times in the past, it’s no secret. It’s no secret he didn’t fukk with George Karl. His wife wanting to raise Kiyan in NY. It was a lot of variables that factored into Melo leaving Denver.

The man says it clear as day he didn’t want to go but there was a lot of factors involved in him demanding a trade

They also had their best season after AI left and on the other video you posted he talked about how good he was feeling on a post AI team. nikkas say a lot of shyt...especially when they don't just wanna call it what it is. He left the Nuggets? That's his choice and his right. They gave the number out after he left. Their choice and their right. If the number matters that much, stay. If you got all this other stuff going on, then you can't be worrying about the number. This man is gonna be 40 this year. Time to grow up and move on.

Like I said 5 years ago, retire #1 as Melo's honorary number for the amount of times he got us out the first round. He deserves to be aknowledged but Jokic lapped his Nuggets career a long time ago, it is what it is

You don't need to be Top 2 in a stat, but he's

Top 3 in points (English and Issel, Jokic will pass him this year)
Top 4 in field goals (English/Issel/Jokic)
Top 3 in free throws (Issel/English)
Top 2 in free throws attempted (Issel)
Top 4 in PPG (English/AI/Larry Jones, the latter 2 playing 2 & 3 seasons)
Top 10 in defensive rebounds (half of those ahead of him are retired numbers and Jokic will be 6)
Top 8 in steals (3 of them retired and Jokic will be 4)
Top 6 in Player Efficiency Rating (4 of them retired and Jokic will be 5)
Top 5 in Offensive Win Shares (Jokic/Issel/English/Thompson)
Top 6 in Overall Win Shares (those 5 plus Beck, whose number is also retired)

This slid into juelzing but everybody consistently ahead of Melo in any of these has their numbers retired other than 135 games of Iverson's 25 PPG.
