The Melo disrespect is WILD.

This is what he asked for choosing money over competing.

why should anyone look at you as an all time great when this is what you did instead of trying to win titles?

For all the flack we give players for ring chasing....we aint got nothing for cats who took the money over chances to win

Respectfully do you remember any of this actually happening and know of what you are speaking or did you make an assumption/misremember and now you dont just want to admit that and move on? Honestly, no judgment breh. Happens to the best of us.
He says it himself on JJ’s pod.

Wherever nikkas need to be told on
Joker was a 2nd round pick:leostare:
Man exactly. I still fukk with Melo but he sound delusional. If giving the 41st pick your number erases your legacy, what legacy did you have? It’d be one thing if Jokic changed his number after being handed the keys but that’s not what happened.

Bullshyt. I never heard something so ridiculous in my life...them Nuggets teams were stacked. You dont think Jokic could win with Allen Iverson, Kenyon Martin, Chauncey Billups, JR Smith, Nene, Juwon Howard, Birdman, Dahntay Jones and Chucky Atkins?

All those players are mid with the exception of AI, who while being good, did not complement Melo.

IMO, Jokic is better than Melo. Better player. Better mindset. Wants to win whereas Melo cared about himself but, Melo did not have the same opportunities either. Melo was fukked the moment Detroit chose not to draft him. If he's paired with Big Ben, Rasheed, and them, they win in 04 like they did but, they also get the 05 ring and maybe snatch Boston's ring in 08 and we're talking about Melo alot differently.

If detroit takes melo they probably wouldnt have traded for sheed during the 03-04 season. Theyd need all the minutes they could get for melo and tayshaun. Corliss williamson was one of their top bench guys so they'd have depth there too.

The defense was already great before sheed, but sheed made it elite. Chauncey/rip/melo/prince/ben would definitely be better than the real version on offense, but the defensive falloff would be worse. And how long before melo gets unhappy just being a cog on offense?

Neither seem to want any part of the other until melo gets behind a mic. Nuggets just made their first finals game in history and a bunch of former players showed up. Melo didnt. Just showing up to one of those games and being on the jumbotron wouldve gone a long way towards starting to mend the relationship. He goes to knicks games all the time.

So why is he singling out the nuggets whenever he gets interviewed? Probably thinks they are his best shot at getting a number retired. Politics

Agreed. Ewing, Barkley, Reggie and others had their numbers retired and them nikkas didn't win sh*t.

The Nuggets could've easily gave Jokic a different number (#14 or #19) out of respect for Melo. They were being petty.

To be fair, Philly let Terry Cummings wear #34 a few years after Barkley left.

Reggie was a lifer and Patrick Ewing was damn near a lifer. Melo was nowhere close to that.

Look at Dwight Howard in Orlando. He had his own era in Orlando but because he left on such bad terms, Orlando couldn't wait to pass around #12 like a blunt. Now, they can still come back and retire it later once time heals wounds, but not many teams, especially that soon in a career will hold off your jersey number while you spend the next decade+ tryna shine in a bigger place.

Jokic just happened to turn out to be THAT guy, so now Melo at best gotta share that number.

im sure if they would invite him, he'd go. The bitterness seems to be one sided. I wish he woulda just left them with nothing

He says it himself on JJ’s pod.

He said nothing about AI, becuase of course AI was gone when they went to the WCF and had their best season. He was so upset about the business of basketball and direction and them losing Dante Jones that he made the Knicks gut their squad when he coulda signed with them that summer? :comeon:
