Yep. Just wanted to know if you were doing tangible shyt to help the community and you're not, like I thought. I feed people. You should do the same and really help. There's food deserts all around the countries hoods and I grew up in one of them and want to change that. I can provide info if you wanna really do some shyt, then your posts will change from hip hop hate to "what can we produce as black folks to keep make ourselves less depending of cacs."

Naw, i hate white-supremist controlled hiphop. Its a tool being used against us in the guise of media propaganda to keep the black community in an ignorant and materialistic mindstate. Ill keep bringing awareness to that ok? Im good

So I'm curious. How were black people living when rappers were more politically engaged?

Like, lets say, during the Public Enemy/Ice Cube era, or even taking it back to "The Message."

Following your logic, I'm imagining that blacks were living in these inner-city utopias. Enlighten me.

Here we go with the "the black community has ALWAYS been fukked up" defense. It never fails:pachaha:

I like Meek's music (mostly), but it's amazing how much of an L he's taking right now. And to think, two weeks ago, he was the hottest in the game with a huge album.
Ain't no love in the rap music genre. I love it, but I gotta admit, a lot of the fans are kind of off:francis:

Stop the foolishness b, what political discourse am I skipping over that makes it ok for me to be ok with and for you to be ok with the agenda of black genocide that continues to prevail in our music?

Are you really arguing this?

Are you really arguing that the reason black kids pick up guns and shoot each other is because they heard Meek fukking Mill scream about it in a song?

...and ironically, then getting upset because dude isn't "political enough."

Y'all aren't even consistent.

Lol@ comparing meek millz to Taylor swift and ed Sheran :stopitslime:...

You act as if there is no in between the polarity of black upliftment and black genocide, what a foolish mentality you have:mjlol:

Can you name me 10 white rappers ,singers, or DJ's that promote white on white genocide pls? :shaq:

Why dont you just cut to the chase and say you are ok and support hearing about black genocide , I would respect you for that

I dont care what white people think but you're worst than the white people who put all blacks into the thug box, you support the music that plays a part in the cycle of us killing our selves, and somehow you feel comfortable arguing with me about it :scust:

As if I'm in the wrong for meek admitting he's scared to be assisinated for political awareness in his music. Imagine if he was held accountable and showed that same fear for spitting about black genocide :ohhh:
foh with that phonzi shyt
rap is a scapegoat for entry level thinkers who think that the black community is in shambles and are embarrassed by it
comparing rap to "white" genres, begging to name white artists that say the same shyt, like white peoples behavior is the shining beacon in which savage negroes should model themselves behind :mjlol:

You are a fool to jump to the conclusion that I implied before rap we were living in utopias

You are a bigger fool if you can't see the promotion of black genocide in our music is a tool used in part to further the white supremacy agenda....:scust:

You are the type to say "why take a shower, you are just gonna get dirty the next day anyway" :mjcry:

You missed the point. Just because dude has a "platform" as an entertainer doesn't mean he has any obligation to use it as you see fit.

Just like when you go into your shyt job, no one expects you to enlighten them on the conflict in Syria, or how black folks have been disenfranchised for centuries. They expect you to do your job, that's how you provide value.

The only thing he needs to do is entertain. The funny thing is, y'all don't know his name because of his political views or his intellect, you know his name because he spits some "street" shyt in a unique, amped-up cadence, with some over-produced beat looping in the background.

You know and accept him as that person, then criticize him for not being someone else.

If you want political science, subscribe to The Economist and NYT, listen to lectures from actual political scientists, read political works, involve yourself at the local level by attending council meetings, zoning board meetings, and so on. Volunteer at or start a grassroots organization...
...
...
...

Exactly.

Why don't you dudes understand this?

tl, dr;

Stop looking to entertainers for intellectual enlightenment.

I gotta agree, its not like Meek is profiting from political raps or talking about revolutions and uplifting the community, but then not doing anything off record....Its still weird to me gangsta rappers get held to a higher standard in this regard then conscience rappers.....For conscience rappers its okay to just be a rapper, gangsta rappers are expected to uplift the community and be activist with they rhymes:patrice:

Why the double standard?Just because you believe they have some sort of power over the hood:mjlol:? These people you claim they have power over are your literal brothers, sisters, cousins, nieces, nephews, sons, daughters, coworkers etc....Question is why don't you have power over any of these people:scust:

Im not asking anybody to become activist, but if all the people who complained about hiphops negativity took at least a ACTIVE role in they OWN familys lives shyt would be better, and actually EFFECTIVE,something positive hiphop has not shown itself to really be imo....I don't wait on Meek Mill,Kendrick,Drake to give my nices and nephews, cousins the game or help them if one of they parents refuses to make sure they know how to read, help them get a job or get to work so they stay outta trouble, check up on em and give them advice...I don't understand why rappers wouldn't want to use they platform to do or say more, but that's just disappointing.

But calling it Meeks duty as a trap rapper?Jays duty as a former drug dealer to save the community:comeon:.

MANY black folks, actually people in general including many of the people in this thread are scared to hold the people in they lives accountable for shyt though, scared to come as preachy or judgemental....But they not scared when it comes to tryna hold rappers accountable:heh:..Go talk this shyt to ya family memebers,go talk that shyt to ya homeboys and facebook friends...But nah you probably just sit there with the :francis: when they on bullshyt.
