People always complain about comic book movies killing cinema, but not that many of them come out a year.
I’ve never got the impression that the issue with comic book movies was there was too many of them. It was that the studios want the same formulaic stories and return on investment that they get and as such it’s difficult to get the films they want made.
Diversity for diversity sake.

I'm okay with characters from like 1950 being a bunch of mostly white dudes.

For whatever reason their stories have lasted and we just wanna see the shyt on TV. They try too hard to be creative. Just film the comic books.

Same with Star Wars. Just use Knights of the Old Republic or whatever else "Legends" novels an shyt that people have been liking for decades.
What are you talking about? You got some examples?

I hated Dr. Strange 2 — one of the worst movies I’ve seen in recent memory.

For me, the official MCU ended with Endgame(which is even hinted at in the title) and many people feel this way.

The current MCU isn't bad per say. I mean...I was surprised at how enjoyable Shang-Chi was. But people aren't really getting attached to the post OG Avenger heroes like that. That's why there's still hype around Spiderman, Thor, Loki, and Dr. Strange who are essentially old guard characters with reputations already while there's none for Shang-Chi or any of the characters on the Eternals even after their movies.

So, the MCU in Phase 4 is likely going to keep milking the old guard heroes until they can successfully market a newer one for the masses to rally behind. But that won't be easy because we're in a different climate and the demand for characters post-OG Avengers just isn't there at all.

The Eternals for instance. The chubby Breh is a good actor, but is he a good superhero? He's a chubby dude who is gay in a tight ass leather outfit.

Did they make him a chubby gay Breh because the character in the comics is a chubby gay Breh?

I must admit to Googling the answer to that just now. He was a Breh in the comics but they added chubby and gay for the movie.

Normally you hire a buff person who looks like they can fight to play a superhero. The stills of this character look like a librarian from the year 2075

A lot of crying in this thread. There's so much good stuff outside MCU that you can enjoy if you're not enjoying the MCU anymore.

I thought Moon Knight was really good. The rest like Wanda Vision/FalconandWS/Loki were watchable but forgettable for me.

I didnt like Eternals but I see it like one of the early Thor movies. 5/10 at best. The infinity saga had quite a few like that.
Strange 2 was cool but not all that. Kinda like Strange 1 so seems they're keeping a similar level.

I think the fatigue is starting to set in for a lot of you guys so its probably time you watch something non MCU.

He basically was a librarian? He was a far gay nerd that built things. The issues with the movie were far greater than casting Michael Jai white in the role would have fixed.

The problem for me, is WHO is the Kobe and Shaq of the MCU right now? It was Iron Man and Captain America. Right now the MCU feels a bit lost without those anchors. Is Wanda one of them? Right now there is no focal point, no key.
Black Panther was supposed to be next up. Chadwick dying and Disney not recasting his character really put a damper on things imo.

Cap didn't get established as that until Winter Soldier. It takes a few movies.
But yeah, Dr. Strange, Spiderman and Wanda are in the lead when it comes to that. Wanda they seemed to take her off that track tho the last movie. lol

they don't have that right now. i'd call this a "rebuilding" phase, but we started with a completely unnecessary Widow movie, and we haven't really had any blue chippers.
seemed like it was gonna be Strange, then they basically made him star in an overrated Wanda movie. Boseman dying :wow:, and Captain Marvel not really being all that popular a solo character fukked their plans. Antman can't be a captain. Guardians are a group and Thor has kinda always been his own thing. Spidey is a kid and is co-owned. they don't have a franchise player/captain type right now. i'd say Thor, but i don't know if others think that.

I agree, but at the same time, I feel like the MCU has been Weak in saying and identifying, "THIS will be a Focal Point."

It's almost like they are searching for the next one, and not just putting faith into Core Heros and build around them.
